I'm seeing mxp to jfk is getting a380 on Feb 1st

I just last week redeemed miles on JFK to MXP since the website said it was a380. I am going to be depressed if the website is wrong.

I don’t think CPT cannot accommodate A380. Would love to be wrong as it’s one of my main EK airports!

Weird. CPT accepts all large planes : 777, 350, 747, so why no 380 ? And the hot and high JNB Or Tambo does accept 380.

It will be the 380 barring some unforeseen events.

I believe the A380 can use CPT for emergencies but not regular ops. In SA, only JNB and DUR can handle regular A380 ops. At CPT, there needs to be work done on runways, taxiways and aprons before regular ops are possible. With the present layout, some taxiways are unusable for the A380, which would require would a 180 on a runway not wide enough for a plane that size to execute such a turn safely.

JNB is able to do it because the runways are very long (covering hot and high issues) and the taxiways are wide (covering regular ops).

Pre-Covid work was supposed to happen to make changes at CPT, but it seems that work stalled in the planning phase during Covid. And given the A380 is out of production, perhaps it is unwise to make costly changes to accommodate one type.

Hey is there anything in the pipeline to change EK37/38 (second DXB-BHX flight) from 777 back to 380?

Thanks.

Any plans to switch the 3rd daily DXB-SYD flight as well from 3 to 4 class configuration, hence that SYD will get PE on all flights?

I do apologise, I thought I had provided an update on EK11, but looking back at my posts it slipped my updates...

EK11 back to the 380 from Feb 1 through Mar 30
EK11 back to the 77W from Mar 31 through Jul 31

Between Jun 1 and Jul 31 it's operated by the 'game changer' new F aircraft.

Sadly the new F has been removed from LGW during this period.

Instead, JNB EK761 will gain the new F between Jun 1 and Jul 31 instead.

NCE as well will get A380 on 31st March instead of 1st June. A380 will be maintained on VIE (EK127/128) for the summer.

On the other hand all flights to PEK, PVG and CAN seems to be operated by B77W

Doesn’t look like there will be any new destinations announced for this calendar year?
