Every time Ive taken 202 to DXB this year, its boarded from the lounge. MXP has been boarding from the other regular gate downstairs. Maybe there were some other days this year where MXP got lounge boarding though, Im not sure.
Last year was not so consistent.
Not sure how its decided. But I always thought that the DXB flight should get lounge boarding every time, since it is technically their flagship flight to their home hub vs MXP as a 5th freedom route.
Boarding from a regular gate downstairs is a completely different (and cluster of an) experience compared to the serenity of boarding from the lounge:

Pro tip, head downstairs to the gate about 5-10 min before boarding time listed on boarding pass. This is before boarding is announced in the lounge, so the F/J line wont be too long and should be able to board without too much of a hassle.

Unfortunately this continued tonight for 202. Didnt get a chance to ask why or how long lounge boarding would not be possible.

Alternative pro tip wait in the lounge for the masses to have already boarded and board at the end

Also with the extension of the A pier of T4 its not as much of a mess as it used to be, more space for Y pax to line up on the other side.
Plus I like boarding early

YMMV but IME its generally been on time. Headed down at 10:15pm last night and F/J boarding began as soon as I got there.
