HDMI in

I know the first seats have a HDMI port, but I’ve never had a HDMI cable to test on a flight.

Does anyone know if you can plug something into it and use the screen?

I've seen people use it as an external display for their laptop. I think you have to bring your own cable though.

Downloaded content from Disney+ is known not to work from an iOS device because the IFE doesn't have HDCP (High Definition Content Protection) - Business class seat ports, 700-200 LR Dallas <--> Dubai

Works fine with Netflix downloaded content (at least it did in September)

Help for future users:

1) A Nintendo switch can be powered from the seat plug

2) It works flawlessly with no scaling issues or lag

3) The audio then comes through the headphones

4) A HDMI splitter really helps for multiplayer

5) The staff don’t mind and didn’t seem surprised

6) We are massive children

HDMI ports in other classes \ airframes?

Hi All,

I have previously only flown in First Class on Emirates and love the HDMI port.

Due to the crazy high First Class ticket prices I am now looking at Emirates Business Class.

My question is............does the business class product have HDMI ports?

I am looking at LON to SYD, so am interested in the 777 Angled Seat and the A380

Many thanks
Kris

Yes, I've experienced HDMI ports in J on newer 777s with registration A6-EP* and A6-EQ* and newer A380s with registration A6-EU* and A6-EV*. You can see what aircraft typically are on a route using flightradar24.com

Of course, due to equipment swaps a route that consistently newer planes can switch to an older one with extremely short notice. I brought my HDMI cable once and I think I used it for all of 15 minutes, there was so much other content on ICE that having my phone or computer tied to the seat wasn't worth it.

Only on newer frames which you can’t really guarantee except flights with PE or new F.

It seems the function no longer exists. I had 6 flights recently (probably more) in various first and business configurations. The plug is there, my devices detect to be connected. But on the screen there is no option anymore to connect. I asked staff multiple times and they couldn’t figure it out either. I used to stream to hdmi often in the past…

Same experience. Worked well till April, and now the device connects and recognises the IFE ScreenX but no message to “OK” the connection comes up on screen, hence there is no way to make it work. Must have been a rogue software upgrade. Shame.
