Chauffeur Drive In Dubai

Hi. I haven’t flown Emirates since pre pandemic but just booked a trip in paid J.

I have an 18 hour overnight stopover in Dubai (this is my choosing, there are connections well ahead of this). I’ve booked this same trip before and in MMB I would have the option to book my Chauffeur Drive to take me to my hotel in Dubai as well as pick me up the next day.

I don’t see this now. I only see the options at my point of origination and ultimate destination.

Is this a policy change or does anyone know if I can still go to the desk in Dubai any have them sort it out? They used to be pretty lenient with just showing up and making arrangements on the spot.

You only get the CD if you qualify for Dubai Connect. As you've extended the connection by choice, it won't appear automatically.

Somebody mentioned a while back that you could 'upgrade' for $30 to get the CD included.

Interesting. Thank you. I’ll check with the desk when I get there.

Its not really an 'upgrade', basically you need to pay the landing fee tax so that your ticket looks like a proper stopover in dubai, this will then allow CD in your manage my booking.
If you call EK and explain what you want to do the agent will take the payment. I cant remember exactly how much it is, but it was under $30 if im not wrong.

For what it’s worth, I recently attempted the same thing and they explained that since I did not select the shortest connection, the itinerary didn’t qualify.

Will this cause any issue with checking my bag only to DXB, claiming it, then checking it to my final the next day?

I’ve done this several times without issue but in all those times the chauffeur drive worked “out of the box” too. Not sure if there is any connection between these and certainly don’t want to run into a problem at check in.

If you haven't called and paid that landing tax they will not be able to short check the bag to DXB only, as it will be shown at departure airport checkin as a connection in DXB rather than a stopover.

I just called and asked them to add a pick up and drop off in Dubai and he was able to do it no problem. I am not able to edit the details online but if I go to "print" my confirmation I can see it.

I had this on my last EK flight also, connection was 8.5 hours, no CD showing in MMB. But called EK and they booked CD without any charge for landing. Bags were checked through to destination which suited me

Recently completed my travel and wanted to follow up and share my experience.

-Booked CD cars over the phone for pickup / dropoff in Dubai. No issues whatsoever.
-Short checked my bag to DXB and again checked it in prior to my 2nd flight. No issues whatsoever.

No need to pay any extra fees, taxes, etc...

It's quite a mess, I would recomend you to have the pick up location at one of the hotels such as Armani Hotel. Just calculate enough time to get to the hotel lobby as for non hotel guests there is no shortcut through the mall possible.
