Awards come from a different ‘inventory’ than cash tickets. It is very well possible that award space has either not (yet) been made available or has already been depleted on the flights you are looking at. Especially F award availability from LHR is very difficult to find as that is a very ‘F heavy’ route. It can be very frustrating.

I’m with the OP, I look regularly for LHR F award availability and it’s often not hard to find 1 seat if you can be flexible. I haven’t been able to find anything in the first few weeks of April, looking for over a month now. Having to go via ZRH.

I have been looking for SYD-DXB-LHR for more than three months for July or August. None have come up. Even when EK413/4 returned, no F awards were made available on that flight.
I decided to look yesterday and couldn't even see F awards ex SYD for flights in 24-28 hours which used to be as dependable as clockwork.
It seems QF, EK and BA are all withholding F award inventory.

Much like the OP I also thought F awards to/from LHR were being blocked. But I then spotted two seats pop up to LHR (circa 10 days before travel) and one to LGW (3/4 days before travel) in the last week so looks like they're there, just very tricky to find.
