If cash I would have thought asking for the chauffeur drive extension its only an extra 30 miles give or take. EK is not regulated by EU261 on the inbound and can choose to ignore and offer a partial refund for the fare differance but you might find its not much. Personally I would be happy I was back home and not stuck in DXB
Given the late notice of changes and extra bookings, I doubt EK would have sorted any cars. It's hard enough for the CD companies - they don't know until about 24 hours before the arrival how many cars they are supposed to provide. It's a mass scramble to sub-contract if a much bigger than usual load comes in. |
As requested, update. I picked him up from MAN yesterday, he transferred to the domestic flight that I used Avios to purchase without issue.
Will let you know what EK CS say. Thanks to all those who have provided constructive comments, really appreciate them. . To clarify, this was a fully flexible economy ticket that had been upgraded with money. Original flight was for today (Sat) but on U.K. announcement, was changed to yesterday’s flight due to land before the ban. Further, the ‘cancelled for commercial reasons is the excuse given to the my friend when he called up. Teaching out to EK on Twitter, they stated it was cancelled because of the ban- obviously this doesn’t tally completely with other flights to the U.K. operating. |
The reason will not matter to EK. As it has no obligation to refund the additional purchase (which was not cash in any event), whatever EK does will come down solely to a customer service gesture and not compensation or reimbursement. The term "gesture" may not be in the vocabulary.
