A380 seat configuration
Hi all!
Does anybody know the seat config for EK18 Manchester to Dubai at 14:00? Looking on historical flights it shows a 3 config flight with economy in lower deck and first/business upstairs. However on our seat booking options for our economy flight coming up they offer seating upstairs in front business. This is not consistent with previous EK18 flights? Anyone have any detail? Many thanks Paul |

We just flew EK018 and it was a 3 class as usual. However, the EK017 returning to Manchester on 15th September has been changed to a 2 class with no First and Economy on both the upper and lower decks.

Thank you!
Thanks for your replies! From what I can I see the norm for EK017/18 is that t s a 3 class config but of course this can change at anytime.
What has confused me is that the seating option for my EK018 includes economy seating options for the upper deck - although 1 economy cabin has been completely blanked out, making only one cabin available! This is different to the regular norm config! |

The rear economy cabin is often blocked off. It allows business class travellers to exit the aircraft whilst the economy class pax upstairs are held. It is also used as a crew hangout.
And Disembarking J class had to walk the length of the aircraft, through the front cabin and mingle with the Economy pax to leave the aircraft as there was no second top airbridge connected, either at DXB or BHX SS |

That is not my experience-on my last four 2 class flights the rear Economy cabin was empty & I was told they always leave it empty if numbers permit as it is easier to staff. Ony on full flights is it utilised.

It was in use on my last DXB-MAN flight earlier this year.
EK aren't going to block off a whole section of seats just because J passengers don't like being held back. The only time it won't be used is if loads are low. In this case, it seems EK18 is being switched due to the high number of Y passengers, so I reckon it will be full! |

I once arrived on a 2 class A380 in DXB (from AMS) at a remote stand in a 2 class (I was in J). The UD Y cabin was full and the Y passengers had been told to remain in their seats until the J passengers had walked past them to the stairs and down to the J buses. Then there seemed to be an issue with the boarding steps and we were told to walk back along the entire upper deck (I had just sort of gotten midway the Y cabin), down the stairs behind the J galley and down boarding steps at the back of the aircraft. All this time the Y passengers were sitting there staring at the 'royalty' moving up and down 'their' cabin. I found it slightly embarrassing....
The point is to explain that there are other ways to let J off before J. |
