I travel pretty much only on EK and travel every 5 days... I do get comments from crew asking the same thing, my better half (crew) flies less than I do :D

Don't worry, the spam will stop - not expecting any upgrades for the next three weeks!

I wonder how over sold it has to be for this to occur so early... my flight the other day was overbooked by 20+ and I still didn't get the new seat until 1 hour before. Also, you seem to fly on savers quite a lot, how the hell do you have 400k + tier miles!

Have you managed to get anywhere near the spend for the Plat unlocks?

Was yours ex DXB or at an outstation? Outstations seem to be under instructions to not process them until very late. Ex DXB they seem to be able to do it well in advance. I've been sitting in the lounge in GLA and had my ex DXB flight show as upgraded a while before the lounge staff came round with a new GLA-DXB boarding pass.

I book savers for flight forecasted to go full, and book flex plus for flights that are forecasted to go empty. So I get op ups on the former, and use miles on the latter. That's why I always get mine on savers :D

Not close to the unlocks I think, actually I dont even know where to check that. I rarely use benefits (lounge, luggage, gold nomination) altogether.

Strangely my experience is the opposite. Outstation upgrades have come more frequently at the check in desk, whereas ex DXB ones have occurred quite close to the departure time. I normally have quite tight connections so I wonder if that is taken in to account.

I wish I could copy that strategy but I am forever changing my flights. On the app under 'skywards' it has a section called exclusive privileges where it shows how much your spend has been. The unlocks are not that great anyway to be honest.
