enjoying the "poor man's full flat sleeper"

I want to thank EK for flying the A380 on more and more flights

with the world financial market gradually deteriorating, they cannot fill all these seats on many of the flights

so no need to upgrade (they regularly send me offers if I only bought a Y ticket) just take 4 seats at the back of the plane and lay down with your seat full fully extended, a true value from EK

I already get lounge access, extra baggage, rarely ever eat anything on-board and chauffeur drive is not offered in HK

Most of my recent flights have been very full, with no open rows at the back. And all on 777s :(

How is it compared to 77W J?

jackiedada Nov 29, 2017 6:35 am

So true. No wonder they had to cancel the 207/8 service to JFK.

On every single flight to JFK, whenever I have traveled Y on 203/4 (70% this year), I have had the seat next to me empty. Have managed a 4 seater only on a few times when the flight looked empty and I have gone for a seat in the back. Otherwise, my preferred seat has always been the first cabin. EK203/4 has typically always been a full flight (mostly oversold in the past), but just not going full these days. Sadly, that means no op-ups for me and besides as a 'lowly' Gold these days, I would pretty much be at the bottom of the op-up list anyway.

The good thing about a 4 seater on the A380 is that with the hand rests pushed back it converts to a 'fully flat' bed, in some ways even better than an F seat. I really like it.

Maybe , but seeing I spent $$$ getting to HKG with EK , maybe EK could spend $ on a J CD service for me ? I'm not sure , maybe demand out weighs supply and EK can't find a company that can fulfill their requirements?

In a relatively unknown place like MAA, EK have mercedes chauffeur drive.

A bit off topic but may I ask what makes you think a place like MAA is relatively 'unknown'.

Or the relevance that CD exist or that it is Merc? EK has CD, often with Mercedes vehicles, in probably about a dozen Indian cities, and many more around the world... entirely irrelevant to the point of CD in HK.

Yeah, why should a tier 2 77W destination get chauffeur drive when HKG - a global financial hub with solid premium demand and 380 flights not get CD?

How does cash have any role in this. EK provide CD in SIN and ZRH just to name a few.
