How does cash have any role in this. EK provide CD in SIN and ZRH just to name a few.

Along with HKG, the destinations you mention will have a local cost associated. This is much more than in MAA, so easy to offer there when it's cheap.

Anyone know why they do not allow CD for J pax's in HKG ?

Originally, it was available to both J and F pax but was then cut for J pax. Not sure why - only $$$?

with the world financial market gradually deteriorating, they cannot fill all these seats on many of the flights

so no need to upgrade (they regularly send me offers if I only bought a Y ticket) just take 4 seats at the back of the plane and lay down with your seat full fully extended, a true value from EK

I already get lounge access, extra baggage, rarely ever eat anything on-board and chauffeur drive is not offered in HK

Say what?

I don't think cost is an issue for HK. It would probably cost them about $400 HKD (~USD50) per transfer. Whereas many European stations are far more expensive for airport transfers. To add to that HK is a relatively small place; you can't go too far, so it's not like other stations where the allowed distance is relatively high. Not entirely sure why it's not offered to J pax, maybe a supply issue, but I can't imagine it would be too hard to find a service provider in HK.

I still fly J often enough but I pay for my air tickets out of my own pocket and I am certainly not going to fly F just to get CD, it defies reason why EK cannot offer CD in HK, Uber works better there than most other places, they could at least offer an Uber coupon or credit

EK seems to have been doing a lot of cost-cutting in recent months and I want to cut some costs myself as I feel EK is less of a value than say 7 or 8 years ago

HK - DXB - HK flights are still relatively full but DXB - Europe (continental) flights are another story

I am often in Dubai and the market there is beginning to look like their 2nd bubble might be bursting in the near future and plenty of other world markets are looking a bit creaky, much like 2007 - 2008

EK hasn't offered CD in HK for years, it pre-dates the current cost-cutting that started around a year ago with introduction of seat payments.

^ the wording of your post made it sound like you blamed the current bank of cost-cutting
