Delayed flight

Anyone got any experience about complaining about a delayed flight or is it just a waste of time.
Booked on EK338 from CRK to DBX which ended up in a 5 hour delay in CRK, believe me this is not an airport you want to spend any time more than necessary in. Resulting delay made me miss my connecting EK007 flight to LHR but in all fairness the swap to EK001 was painless and efficient, but it meant I arrived at LHR 5,1/2 hours later than scheduled and I didn't get my Eggs Royale :(
If it makes any difference I was booked in economy but upgraded to J with cash on first sector and then upgraded again with points on DBX to LHR. Flights were booked as one trip starting at LHR.
So any point in sending an email, or just accept it?

On here lots of people have experience complaining :D

Send a mail, stick to the facts, you might get some miles. EC261 doesn't apply

Yeah, it's worth spending 10 minutes writing a short email. You may get 10-20K points. If not, you've only lost 10 minutes.

Why complain ?
S*** happens.

You can complain if you were not taken care of, or if you were not informed timely, which happens with LCCs.
But this doesn't seem to be the case.

This year, one of my flights was delayed 5H30 for medical reasons. We couldn't deplane though the diversion airport was one of EK's destinations (I could even see one EK 777).
How about all the pax waiting for the plane at the outstation ?
Can we all sue the lady that got sick ? It could have been me, or my family.

Recently, one of my flights was delayed 2H due to the airport's electrical failure. We couldn't deplane even though we were still at the gate.
Can I sue the airport ?

I fully understand the frustration / anger, but, one day, you may be the cause of the delay. (hopefully not)

I think for the compensation, and why not, we don't know the reason for delay. Your examples jump to the extreme

If you upgraded the first leg only using cash, was this using an upgrade offer? They won't take that into consideration for any claim if so.

Email them, expect nothing and be surprised if you get something.

Yes, he can ask for compensation, if laws permit.
But, EK's true nature is visible in the recent UK rulings.

And, as for me, I have several compensations pending : fully accepted by EK and never paid.
I have similar cases around me. (of which platinum paid F pax)

So, good luck.

Never heard of a law forbidding consumers asking for compensation

Absolutely not incoherent.

Asking for compensation as per law and/or as per EK own rule is not complaining.
When I met delays, I did ask for the EU261 compensations.
When my luggage was not delivered, I asked for refund of actual (reasonable) costs incurred.
These are not "complains".

Now, I CAN complain that EK does not abide by the rules / laws. But, I do not, as this is a waste of time.

Nope. But, sadly, large corporations being as they are, they only pay when laws oblige them to.
And airline industry shows that, even so, they don't.

So, if the law doesn't "protect" the consumers, forget about it.

Sure but in this case by compensation I think most of us understood miles, which airlines often dish out

Ah. All right. My bad.

Then, I confirm that I never complained for delays, nor for broken seat, nor for dark IFE screen.
I only complained once for a rude CD chauffeur (who was very late without notice), with no aim to get extra miles. But this is not EK anyway.

This said, if some FTers want to get miles for righteous claims, why not ?

I just understood that there may be some kind of black list of claimers. I don't if this is true.
