I would assume so , i didn't ask as there was no way i was paying that much just to depart from CPT. My flight in June went from empty to oversold during the change , so a op-up from J-F is on the cards seeing that i am on a flex plus ticket and platinum ! As others have said i think it is only coming into effect during the winter months , i see all mention of the addition of the A380 to JNB has been removed from the EK website ! RichardAtCT i am doing the same , well enjoy the extremely light J on the A380... :D
Or do you need to stay on a flex plus? |
I told the chap my situation and he checked and came back with the huge fare difference , i then said any way we can get it down including changing the fare group and he said no difference , i also tried the DYKWIA method and that failed. Skywardshunter what do you think the chances of a op-up are , seeing you fly mostly out of JNB , many plats, golds and silvers ? I am more acquainted with CPT !

All SA routes are tough on op-ups. Because of people like yourself who are Plat and Flex Plus :D Gold on Flex tickets I've never had an op-ups to or from SA, but many on other routes. |

I fly mostly out of CPT actually. Hence I said I was also considering trekking to JNB for the A380. I used to fly more in and out of JNB.

Also M3red if you are traveling as a couple now it seems after reading a thread earlier today, however this maybe so very shoddy ground handling ! haha |

My return on the other hand (the following Thursday) is still 80% empty! My 777 connection to Bangalore is sold out in J, so here is to hoping! |
Figured it all out EK764 has now got the A380 service ! 🙄

Ek source and flightradar up til today shows an a 380 being used to jnb The 380 will be deployed on 763/764 This I think this a better option |

Apologies
Only saw info about 764 now |
I'm flying to JNB on EK761 tonight on the A380 and returning on EK764 in three weeks. It was originally scheduled with 777 so I was thrilled to see the "upgrade" on the Emirates app a couple of days ago. I'm flying Business now, but the return trip will be in Economy. I was very pleased with A380 Economy with Lufthansa a couple of years ago, so will be interesting to "test" it with Emirates as well.

Do enjoy , and also spare a prayer for me that atleast a newer 777 is serving on my flight as i really do not want to spend the whole flight with ICE version 000000.1 !:rolleyes: |
Just saw this. We specifically booked F from JNB instead of DUR to fly on the A380 and now it has been changed!
Too much hassle to change the domestic flight times to catch 764 so will just fly 761. At least we have the A380 to HKG. |
