This to me is one of the biggest differences between EK and some other crews... I feel like on ANZ they were trying to fatten me up to sell me at the market on arrival... feeding me anything and everything they had if I was awake.

EK crew are very happy to respond to direct requests for things they assume we know about, but generally lack the "I am proud of our product and want you to experience all of it." Then again, there are up to 76 of us in J.

Albeit it's been a little while since my last J flight, I seem to recall light bites were on demand.

Can't you have them all sent up to the flight deck? :D Tell the crew it's for "research".

We just finished one of the overnight segments. I don't know if the crew tried to inform J pax that there were light bites but I woke up and went and asked the crew. They didn't offer to show me the menu but I had seen it online so I knew what to order. I didn't see that many pax eating (though a lot were sleeping).

I did not see the bar menu at the bar. I did ask at the bar about the smoothies (this was near the end of the flight ) and I was told that yes they had smoothies on the flights that serve breakfast.... which was the flight I was on!

So I agree that they don't do a good job on communicating what the J product offers. I also had to specifically ask for the children's stuffed animal (they were given the adult amenity kit). When they brought them over they brought a bunch and let them have them all but I don't understand why I had to ask (ages 7 and 9).

Overall it was a good experience but coming over here I knew what to ask.

The A380 J bar menu is sometimes kept under the LCD display screen opposite to the bar (where they keep the canapés/macaroons etc ).

Happens to be the only place on the aircraft without the presence of the DP! :p
