Drinks Thief!

So a funny thing happened to me this week when flying from LHR-DXB in 20K

For the first time in ages I actually managed to get some sleep, as soon as the the seat belt sign goes off I recline my seat and I am sleeping like a baby all the way through to DXB.

Wake up and reach for a bottle of water from the the side of the seat and almost everything had been taken while I was sleeping, water gone, both sparkling and still and the juice was also taken.

Now this may sound strange to some people, but, that little seat in J is my personal space and I feel violated that someone took it upon themselves to invade my space when I was sleeping.

I'm sure I must be getting more sensitive in my old age because for some reason it really annoyed me.

Anyway, keep a look out for the phantom drinks thieves...haha

What route was this on?

I'm having a few d******d moments whilst I'm chilling out in Indonesia just now. Must be the pace of life. I was reading a real book the other day instead of on my iPad and couldn't understand why the page wouldn't turn when I tapped it:rolleyes::D

Forgive the dumbness please :o

Safe & Happy Travels

Same thing happened to Mrs M3Red on the way to SIN.

When are you next flying from MAN?

Hopefully between Christmas and New Year, I seem to have cut down my travels with Emirates this year, gone from almost 400k miles last year to just shy of 100k so far this qualifying year.

Got a KUL coming up then trip back to the UK for Christmas but thats it on the horizon.

Been spreading my business between QR and EY for the past few months and it has really been refreshing, no queues at AUH and straight out of the terminal at Al Maktoom.

Let me know via PM when you are back from MAN and I will try and co-ordinate!

Could it be crew removing due to turbulence? Not sure what the rules are on the A380

Sometimes during turbulence if the pax is sleeping and the drinks guard is up, then I have seen them remove bottles etc., and forget to put them back, so could be that.

I don't think I've ever seen a pax take bottles from the J seat bars and I know pax steal everything!

I really would like to think that (as suggested) it was indeed a case of crew removing the said items due to turbulence, rather than 'theft'. I guess we will never know for sure.

But .....if the latter, then yet another sad illustration - amongst many ! - of the way in which air travel's transformation, from an almost niche activity enjoyed by a wealthy few to one available to the masses, has brought with it occasional tacky behaviour from a percentage (albeit happily a still-small percentage) of those masses.

I don't buy this.
I can't imagine FA removing all the bottles from every seat during turbulence !
The bar rail guard is made for this purpose.

Well the more I think about it, I don't really buy it either.

But in saying I would like to think ... I suppose I was clinging to the hope of it being true - simply because it's far more palatable than the other option.

If it was indeed 'theft', then I'm pretty sure it would have annoyed and unsettled me in the same way that it affected the OP, had I been in his/her shoes.

Makes you wonder just how closely you need to watch your personal possessions/gadgetry inflight these days .......:(
