I land at 0645, and depart at 0940.

I may even be able to persuade eternaltransit, but he doesn't like booking that far in advance :D

Surprisingly, Ex-UK is actually very reasonable at the moment. EK F to BKK, for example, is available for £3k, which is mad considering BA CW is £2,900.

:(

EK J is £3700 from IAD-BKK. Granted it is 4 hours longer, but I sympathize with UAE folks. Ex-US is just as expensive.

You get what you pay for. Good luck with EY

Eh? On EY you'll get guaranteed aisle access seats in a 1-2-1 config, full-flat beds guaranteed & dine on demand & a decent FFP. Where does “luck” come into the equation?

With a terrible website, horrendous call centres, a disaster of a hub and incredibly bad ground handling at all stations. Never mind the fact you may end up on any of a number of EAP aircraft instead of an actual EY plane.

The hard product and service are indeed better and more consistent than EK. I wouldn't say service is better, just consistently good. EK service at its best is still better by far. I got EY Silver from a single 1000USD return in J which to me massively devalues the FFP.

It's hard to verbalise what it is with EK but there's a certainty to processes, rules, a solidness to the IT (no Android app for EY? Lol), EY feels like a black box.

Well we all have different experiences.

I have (pretty much) had no EY issues worth mentioning: website; call centre or ground handing. All OK. I find that going in with a positive head helps.

On the other hand, EK has disappointed me at almost every turn. Surly check-in staff (DXB), very very average J lounges at DXB, laughable Business Class 2-3-2 SLOPEY seating in far far too many of their fleet, average-poor service in First & a class-trailing FFP.

I’ll stick with EY & also QR over EK every time. EK are a grudging back-up for me/us. C’est La Vie ;)

I went in positive and did enjoy the onboard product bit things went sideways almost from the first check-in. And the DXB J Lounges are certainly above average. The concourse A J lounge is as good as the EY new F lounge aside from the sit-down restaurant style service.
