Why does EK have no 787s and 350s?
There was a controverse between Airbus/Boeing and Tim Clark about what to choose for a smaller aircraft for long range: a 787 or 350.
All major airlines now have at least one of these. Why can Tim Clark not make a decision ? Both aircraft allow ultra long range (> 12000km nonstop). |
Emirates makes decisions on their merits and with an eye on their own needs - not on what the "major airlines" are doing.
Emirates cancelled its A350 order two years ago. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/emira...wb-orders.html |
Basically 787 is too small for their business model.
A350 they are covered by the 777 in their fleet capacity wise. And guess going forward the 777X is going to suit their needs better than the A350, hence cutting their A350 order. |
Hi,
Emirates will take the time it takes to make a decision. It is still work in progress: IATA: Emirates closes on A350/787 order decision (June 2016) Cheers, GenevaFlyer |
I hope they don't go for the 787. Not a comfortable aircraft in Y. With the majority of airlines going for 3-3-3, I wouldn't see EK being any different given their current 777 Y configuration (something I haven't tried yet but pretty sure it's not far off).
