Stupid Question

Sorry but this may sound like a silly question but can I take a suitcase onto the plane? The reason I ask is that the Emirates website states

"First Class and Business Class customers are permitted two pieces of carry-on baggage: one briefcase plus either one handbag or one garment bag. The briefcase may not exceed 18 x 14 x 8 inches (45 x 35 x 20cm); the handbag may not exceed 22 x 15 x 8 inches (55 x 38 x 20cm); the garment bag can be no more than 8 inches (20cm) thick when folded. The weight of each piece must not exceed 7kg (15lb)."

My cases is within the guidelines but I cant remember seeing suitcases on previous flights so thought I'd ask. Usually I take a rucksack but on the previous 2/3 flights my large suitcase hasn't made the connecting flight from DBX to BKK.

Perhaps I'm misreading things here (apologies if so) .... but have to say I'm a tad confused.

On the one hand, the OP talks about his "large suitcase" having gone astray in the past, so presumably this is the same case that he is now looking to carry with him onboard and thus avoid any recurrence.

He also says that the measurements comply with EK guidelines. But would any bag meeting such hand-baggage guidelines be realistically described as "a large suitcase" ....

I think it's a suit carrier rather than a suitcase in this instance.

Yes, I'm taking a change of clothes and a few essentials in the smaller case. The larger case will travel in the hold. Thanks.
