Ok - thanks - it was clearly not a useful question for this forum, but thanks for those who refrained from snark and made some good faith attempts at a response. I was mostly hoping to understand whether anyone had experience with linking two long haul trips on Emirates back to back and whether that made any sense. In the past, doing such types of trips )(e.g., ZRH-MEL via SIN) I managed a night between flights or at least a long layover with time for a shower and leg stretch and maybe even a snooze.

Let's just close out this dialog and move on to more important things.

My flights are usually HKG-DXB-YYZ or SYD-DXB-YYZ, and the worst part is hanging around for the 4-5 hr cnx time between flights. I can relax on the plane, so I'd prefer a brief connection. (Although having some time for a shower is nice). On the outbounds there's usually an 8 hr cnx, which means going to a hotel, then getting up at 1:30 a.m., which is also not fun.

Bottom line, unless you're going to make a full day of it and can take advantage of the time, you should just enjoy the ride. (Of course if you can u/g to F you can get your shower en route ;) )

We regularly do GLA-MEL and MEL-GLA with 21+ hours flying and just minimal time (albeit usually just over 2 hrs) in DXB - perfectly 'do-able' and no great problem. What we usually do though is pick flights between DXB and MEL which have a short break in KUL or SIN so we break it up into 3 x 7 hr flights with a couple of short breaks (rather than the non-stop A380 circa 13 or 14 hrs leg).

Just to reiterate, 90 mins is enough to get gate to gate

thanks for the last few reassuring/useful comments - am going to leave it as is and make sure my phone is loaded with many hours of podcasts to back up IFE (although on that one memorable MEL-SIN-LHR trip, I did get to see all three Lord of the Rings movies back to back!)
