Upgrading to first on an A380 vs B777

Right now there is plenty of upgrade availability. What would you suggest? Upgrading to first on my A380 leg or on my B777 leg? A380 leg is shorter (sin - dxb) B777 is longer (DXB - ORD). Are the amenities/hard product that different on an A380 for first?

The 777 doesn't have a shower or the bar at the back. If not experienced the A380 showers, I would probably recommend upgrading the A380 leg just for the novelty factor. A couple of other things to consider in favor of upgrading the DXB-ORD 777 leg:
1. If you upgrade the DXB-ORD, you also get to experience the DXB F lounge.
2. Which flight are you taking out of SIN? There is a chance that you may not get the F amenity kit & pajamas (regulars should be able to tell) but you are guaranteed that on your ORD flight.

Actually, it depends entirely on your preferences....

I would upgrade dxb-ord without any hesitation.

Just because the difference between J and F is much bigger on 777.

:)

I'd do the 777 leg.

On the A380 leg I'd be in the bar most of the flight, so F would be wasted.

I agree, I'd do it on the 777 because of the biggest difference between business and first on such a long flight.

The shower on the A380 is amazing (novelty probably, but life experience!), so you can add that to a bucket list for the future - the benefit on the ORD flight would last a lot longer for this trip - and I'd go for that.

You get the A380 bar experience in business too, and it's business seats are pretty good anyway.

DXB First lounges are also worth it! food, drink and space!

Enjoy either way!

I'd go for the longer flight any day.

Enjoy!

I am confused. You start out with 777, but then give great reasons for A380??

No, the 777 is being recommended for F. What is being implied is that if you do the 777 in F and 380 in J one can still experience the J bar at the back on the 380 in J, and the J seats on the 380 are fully flat (unlike the 777 which are not) which should give a much nicer experience if you do J on the 380.

But as has been said before, just stay at the bar until the food service arrives at your seat. Return there once you've eaten.

Or just eat in the lounge before the flight, and then snack at the bar :D

Eating and drinking in airport lounge. Then eat and drink at onboard bar. Should be stuffed before you know it - LOL!

ZBigFam Mar 5, 2016 11:28 am

You brought up my next thought... Where is the food better ? The lounge or onboard? There is only so much I can eat...want to plan strategically. I'm not a big drinker.
