Cut off in F
 

Well... I never imagined this happening... I managed to get cut off on a ULH EK flight... In all my years of flying, this has never happened on a non US carrier.. Never imagined it on EK.. I was informed that my upcoming EK flights would be notified of this occurrence and I may not be served booze. Can this be true? I'd like to know so if so I can fly out of EY later on this week if need be..

Given, by your own admission, it has happened before on US airlines and you will change carriers in fear of not being serve alcohol it sounds like you may need AA and the twelve step program....

OP: EK will deny boarding as well as offload even once seated drunk F pax on the ground as well. I would not recommend getting aggressively drunk if this happens in DXB :D

Is it really common for people to drink to intoxication on a flight? Won't the FA realize that the point is coming and just say, no more?

With free, unlimited booze in lounges and onboard... of course it happens. Some people become a problem after a drink or two. Others are fine after a dozen.

The troublesome issue here is that a crew member makes the decision based on their opinion, right or wrong.

Intoxication on a flight? I'd say it is very common on all airlines with free "unlimited" alcohol - the problem is that while some people can hide it quite well others become rather boorish and disruptive: they are the problem.

From our prior flight, we learned that Emirates has a green, amber (we US Americans call it yellow), and red light system for gauging whether to serve a drunkard passenger. Ben asked one of the business class crew (whose name we were too drunk to unfortunately forgot to get) whether he was still green, and the crew member smiled a bit, laughed, and said that he was “probably amber” but that he would not stop serving him. Ben then asked another crew member, who agreed that he was amber. Poor Ben — what a light weight! Now we know why Ben’s nickname is lucky — he’s lucky he’s never been restrained on a flight for being so bad at holding his liquor. And I’m not even throwing shade. To prove my point, I’ll explain what the crew thought of me. He then asked about me. Surely I was amber too; right? Apparently I didn’t look it. Both crew members said that I was green!"

So for a crew member to cut you off, you must have definitely had too much to drink. I've never seen or heard of anyone I know getting cut off, even my heavy drinking friends.

The crew always has the authority though, I remember an SFO777 TR where he was flying DXB-JFK in F and a pax was very disruptive after having too much to drink. He was met by NYPD or security upon arrival! The crew probably should have cut him off.

I've learned a new (American?) phrase today. Never heard it before.

Never happened to me either, despite being worse for wear on a number of occasions. Fortunately, I'm a quiet drunk, and I generally fall asleep when I've had too much.

Probably a good thing you haven't heard it, it means you haven't suffered the indignity of being refused service :D

Unlike a bus, they can't just pull over and kick you off.

A crew member actually doing their job regarding excessive binge drinking and refusing to serve.

If the passenger was inebriated , well done by the crewmember and well done by Emirates if it records this
