LGW had fast track when I was last there early this year.

It was a separate entrance ( Gatwick premium) and totally different from the usual queue. In fact you don't even see the regular queue as it has a dedicated security team and equipment.

I used to get it even on economy from LGW as it was offered to skywards gold members

The Lgw fast track was superb (did it in June!) who separate entrance with the driver playing Emirates music at the terminal

Man fast track is a god send the "normal" queues are a shambles.

LGW fast track ("Gatwick Premium") is now much more variable due to the sheer volume of people using LGW now (LGW keeps having record passenger numbers passing through) and the various ways you can obtain it - e.g. if you pay for lounge access at the No.1 Traveller lounge, it includes Premium lane access, or all the BA/Oneworld elites.

If there's a queue, it's better to go through normal security as LGW have vastly improved the normal security channels with lots of additional channels, whereas Premium only generally has one.

The situation should improve once BA move entirely to South terminal next year.

Depends on how long ago the surgery was - EK might ask for a Fitness to Fly form submitted to them for approval before allowing you to travel.

https://www.emirates.com/uk/english/...n_for_fitness/

Note EK will generally not allow travel within 21 days of invasive chest surgery.

The worst thing would be to turn up at the airport, mention it and then overzealous ground staff not being satisfied he was fit to fly (or security notifying the airline if it gets picked up there) and therefore refuse boarding.

Would recommend various doctor's letters attesting to the surgery and certifying fitness to travel to ease all doubts.

Thanks for the link. His surgery was 6 months ago & we are not due to fly until January. His surgeon has also given the go ahead, so fingers crossed it should be OK. I have been going through his post op info & read that the wires are stainless steel so not sure what that means. I have a titanium implant and that definitely doesn't set the beepers off but just not sure about S/steel. Oh well, we'll find out soon as we are due to make a European flight next month.

No unfortunately during transit there is no service for fast tracking J/F passengers - unless I imagine the pax are VIP/IO.

The fast track cards are handed out to be used for when going through immigration only.

I can only confirm my experience in F but on all occassions I have walked up to someone manning the queues in transit at DBX and they have escorted me to the front of the queue.

Saw that now they have separate queues for Y and J/F. Not sure that anyone is enforcing that though.
