Aye. It's grim up north lad!
The airport is a shambles. |
And lo and behold when we got back into MAN last night the gate was still occupied by the lunchtime flight which hadn't left, so we were remote standed and bussed into the terminal again.
1 bus for F, two busses for most of the J and then presumably they let the Y passengers off, once again by a single stairway. If this is how they are going to cope with 2 flights a day, MAN hasn't the capacity for 2 380 flights a day, when something goes wrong. |

Had a nice connection to EK at LGW using flybe. And flybe is leaving LGW from April.:( |
Last year I sent my mom and dad in F because it was their anniversary . Exactly the same issue. Suffice to say that it spoiled the whole experience.:(

Which is why I'm not very happy to start flying via MAN from April.

Must admit I have flown regularly from MAN for the past 18 months (777 & A380), and for the most part been happy with it. (the walk from the lounge to the plane isn't great, but I'm not too fussed). I def wouldn't have any issues with booking from there; its only because I have moved location that I am starting to fly from BHX now.

It is a terrible airport. Only plus is that it is 20 mins from my parents where I base myself when in the UK.
Boarding is generally a zoo. Compared to my last flight from BHX, where I was sat in the lounge within 15min of the car getting there (including checking in bags etc), and then easy boarding; the more I think about it, maybe BHX isn't as bad a I first thought! (Not saying it's great, but there is something nice about a smaller airport sometimes). Though I do miss the opportunity for op-ups ;) even if they did generally only happen ex-DXB |

There's another airport that EK flies to that regularly buses passengers to and from the terminal.... DXB :) |

Isn't that exactly what they do? They only have one A380 stand, so if that's blocked, the contingency is to bus the passengers.

I did suggest to the CC that perhaps it was a lady Captain, who had a spot of bother parking, it went down well with the chap, his female colleague less so ! As a man married to a female airline pilot, and after years of listening to the jokes and comments, the "spot of bother parking" bit is irritating, but perhaps I'm just sensitive. |

It can get worse. I've landed in places where Y is allowed to disembark off a single entrance before J and F are allowed to leave. Successfully pushed past CC once, who insisted there's a separate bus. I said I don't think Y passengers have the plague, but I know I need to make a meeting.

On a 380? Very possible. I recall three times. Never happened on any other type though.
