would there be a discount for Golds/ platinums ???I'm in London on Holiday (awful weather though) and I'm planning to check out the Emirates Air Line on Sunday/Monday.

Wish there was some use of status on EK. Currently there is none.:(

Wow! I'd love that...

I'm dying to visit DXB via EK F class.

Woohoo! Virtual first class shower. I looked at First class ticket from YYZ-DXB, just for fun, it was a down payment for a small bungalow. This will be a lot cheaper.

I'm interested to know if its a full-motion simulator. the fixed ones are a waste of time!

Doesnt look like a full motion one :(

I wonder if they are real pilots who help you in the sim?

irishguy28 Jul 4, 2013 2:44 am

Define "real pilot"?

One who's actually flown a plane with cartloads of pax in the back maybe:)

ukdoctor Jul 4, 2013 4:50 am

Will go there in September on my next trip to London. I was quite impressed with the Emirates air line in london as it seemed good value for money as I already had a travel card

Will check this one out as well .

one with a pilots license  Some of these cheap sims have people who are just trained to operate the sim and they dont actually have any form of a pilots license.

New video from Emirates uploaded: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CeDBQR0jwHU

Looks a nice wee place, small though. The A380 sims don't look like they will involve any motion.

jackiedada Jul 5, 2013 10:13 pm

Looks like a nice place to go and explore!

No but that's why they have the slots that are assigned to people. The simulator looks nice and I wasn't expecting a moving one. Would've been too expensive. But looks like its worth a visit.

GodAtum Jul 9, 2013 4:58 am

How long is the cockpit flight as it doesnt give much details?

Sam Bee Jul 9, 2013 5:40 am

Where's the Flyertalk Members Exclusive Invitations and Private Opening? :p

You know if it was a BA Aviation Experience there would be free tickets, tasting and try-outs being handed out to all and sundry on the BA board?

(Please rise to the bait Emirates ;))

AMRivlin Jul 10, 2013 1:55 pm

How does this not exist in DXB itself.

Do EK F pax get this experience free?

eightblack Jul 11, 2013 4:04 am

More on the opening with Boris and Tim Clark

I wonder why they dont promote this to the UK Skywards membership base with a free trial or offer.

As someone said upthread, if BA did this, there would be a huge fanfare amongst the BA board and BAEC membership. When BA took delivery of their new A380 and 787 recently, BA invited FT to Seattle to fly the plane home on its delivery flight, covered all costs and made a big deal...

As so many people have said in the past, EK probably run their FF just because they are in the industry and have to do it, but no further. They just don't know how to leverage a bunch of their most 'passionate' flyers and turn that into brand equity - they would rather blow up the dollars on some celebrity sponsorship or racing event.

I remember a trip report for the 777-300, but did that happen for the A380 and 787 too!?!

My understanding was that this was simply visiting the new aircraft on the ground at Heathrow, rather than being on board for the delivery flight? But definitely could be wrong on that!

My mistake - you're both right. But there was also invitations sent to people for the actual delivery flights...let me go look for the thread.
