As far as I can tell, EK21 is serviced by a 2-class aircraft only. Why dont you switch to EK17, which is an A380, that way you are definitely assured of F and then the upgrade would seem worth it (ie showers etc).
If you cant switch to the 17, switch to the 19, as this is a 777 with F availability. |
So can anyone answer, how many more miles will it cost me to upgrade to first once on board?

For example, a SIN-JFK one-way upgrade from Y to J (Flex) is 67,500 miles. If you did it SIN-DXB (32,500) and then DXB-JFK (45,000), it would cost you 77,500. Sometimes you have no choice because you may not be able to find availability all the way thru. By the way, these upgrade award levels are now officially outrageous (out of Australia that is)!!!! |

It will cost you the same. Its only more expensive if you upgrade each leg individually.
For example, a SIN-JFK one-way upgrade from Y to J (Flex) is 135,000 miles. If you did it SIN-DXB (65,000) and then DXB-JFK (90,000), it would cost you 155,000. Sometimes you have no choice because you may not be able to find availability all the way thru. By the way, these upgrade award levels are now officially outrageous!!!! The oneway upgrade cost from SIN-DXB is 32.5k/42.5k , DXB-JFK is 45k/57.5k and SiN-JFK is 67.5k/85k The rates you quoted are the round trip rates |

However, if you do it on board, you can only do the leg you are currently on, so would be paying the higher amounts. |
