Ive never had an upgrade email since I became gold in late 2008. I was silver till then and got them a few times in early 2008

My parents arrived in dxb today econom saver on to del next week, not first time on ek but blue. Been offered dxb del in j for 670 dirhams each....

I had about three or four last year and got one last week for GBP 340 Y to J on a saver fare DXB BKK 30 january. Havnt taken the offer this time though.

Maybe they do know who you are and have decided your not special enough :D

I used to receive a quite a few when I was Blue and then a couple when Silver. Received none as a Gold. I also used to notice that I would receive most of them from MEL to SIN and not on the return, so made me think it was very sector specific...

Will it include lounge access and chauffeur drive at both ends?.If so then its worth it.

They are on the a330... You get lounge not sure about the car will check later, but they have a driver picking them up anyway.

I do feel slightly guilty that my wife and I are going to meet them one day later but flying in f! :p

I have never been blue or silver, only gold, and of course have never received one of these email offers. However, I have only travelled once in Y on EK. Are these only for Y->J?

How come you've never been blue or silver? Don't you need to start with blue before progressing to silver, then gold? Am I missing something?

2 possibilities

1. Status match with another frequent flier program
2. Lots of trips in J or F in a very short period and then joined skywards and miles added to account(I don't know if this is still possible)

Actually, neither. I started flying Emirates during the crazy sale in December 2011. I bought a ton of F an J tickets ($75k+) and e-mailed EK about getting Gold status since I will be flying them so much. EK USA responded with Gold status before I flew my first flight.

So, I was EK Blue during the few days between me opening an EK account and EK USA making me Gold. However, I have never flown an EK flight being anything other than Gold.
