It will happen when we're not looking for it. But it will happen! Was not expecting that, but fabulous. Also i'm about to book a CGK/DPS flight for June, so awesomeness. Well, apart from the two long 77W legs i'd endure in Y. But QR is so busy in June, hmmm. I've never done an inaugeral. Does EK ever do anything worthwhile? (IN ECONOMY!)> |
Why does EK not fly to Bali ?
Great. Going to look into flights and try to do a trip to lombok via the boat from Bali then (one of my oldest school friends lives in Lombok)

shame its only a 2 class.

Well Emirates are certainly spreading their wings to the region of Bali, after all. I also read about the extra daily services to Bangkok and Perth. The only thing that concerns me is the extended circling time over DXB, because 40 minutes is already far too long.

Three days after the day I need that flight. Figures!
Happy to have an option west to home that can compete with the other direction on CX |
[QUOTE=MarcoGT;24457505]Which extra daily to BKK?
Flight numbers and timing? I am going to book for BKK in the next days/weeks Emirates will launch a sixth daily flight between Dubai and Bangkok from October 27. The new service will be operated by a B777-200ER, complementing two A380s, two B777-300ERs and one B777-300. EK370 will depart Dubai at 1520 and arrive in Bangkok at 0020 the following morning and EK371 departs the Thai capital at 0155 and reaches Dubai at 0555. Emirates has also announced today it will start daily services between Dubai and Kiev from January 16, and earlier this week said it will start A380 services between Dubai and Mauritius from December. Emirates recently launched its third daily flight from Dubai to Perth, capitalising on growing two-way business and leisure traffic. The service provides another commercial filip for the airline ahead of the expected launch of its global partnership with Qantas in April. EK422 departs Dubai at 2145 and arrives in Perth at 1225 the following day, and the return flight, EK423, departs Perth at 1510 and arrives in Dubai at 2210. |

Maybe the airport can't handle the A380 and that seems to be all Emirates flies to Asia/SE Asia.

EK commences service to DPS from 3rd June.
Asia/SE Asia gets the same range as planes as the rest of the network, e.g. 77W to BKK, 332 to HKG, 343 to SGN. Perhaps you live in a station blessed with the latest planes :D |

Yes, we have had many discussions on this topic given the commercial rationale. It is a matter of time.
What I learned from being here in the ME region, Indonesia (and Malaysia) is quite popular among GCC countries being a islamic country. Almost everyone I speak to at my Saudi client has been to both countries whereas for example Western visitors to Malaysia are much rarer .. I don't find a lot of Germans flying to there. Almost all the EU countries (except UK and Sweden) have seen double digit increases in tourism to Malaysia (and even then, UK's increase is higher than the average.) The Western countries seem to account for just over 1.1m visitors. |
A question :)
Emirates have had the daily flight to Bali , but now in July/August there are 3 days in which a second flight is scheduled. It seems odd as : 1) The regular daily flight on those days is not full, so not a case of abnormal demand on a particular day/week forcing an extra flight 2) The flight code is 4 numbers, EK 2522 3) It is not uncommon to have extra flights during busy periods, but it is rare to have a second flight just for 3 days the whole summer Any idea on what is going on, is it a charter ? I am of course happy as the main reason I was not booking EK to Bali was the 8030 departure which would be tough with our toddler, but the 2am departure in EK 2522 is very suitable, thank you EK : ) |

Return flights might be full also
