Please do not be so presumptuous. Trust me that there are a fairly large number of folks on this planet who go in paid F but don't have the slightest of consideration for their fellow passengers or etiquette on board (apart from being sweaty and smelly). I'm sure you'll find yourself next to them fairly soon. (or do you belong to them that you actually don't notice that money doesn't have the slightest to do with grooming????)

EK does have the best overall F product. SQ is still better in the air, but if you consider the whole package - ground service, lounge, aircraft HW and so on - EK is the clear winner.

So it's good to hear that this QF alliance won't break the product that I don't mind paying for.

And about F lounge being already full - I never said that it's already too crowded. But at times it's very dangerously close to it, for my tastes. In F it's NOT about being able to find a place to sit - it's about finding a place to sit with enough privacy and space.

Do I really want to share seating space with sweaty Y pax coming off 12+ flight from MEL when I paid F prices ? :p

Currently F on EK is my first choice - and will continue to be so as long as EK can keep the product intact and enjoyable to fly.

El Puerco Volante.

+1

EK IO and QF CL( or whatever their secret elite program is should of course have F lounge access, because people that earn this level of course don't fly Y, usually paid F, and the rare J. They already have the F lounge access, so it should be kept for F pax, and IO/CL(?).

but they would be using the showers and spa in the lounge so surely there would be no sweaty passengers to put you off your caviar! :D :p

I agree with the above posters, F Lounge should always remain exclusive to F customers. I have been through it at times when it was very busy between 6:30am and 8:00am, and between 11:30pm to 1:30 am. And personaly, when it is busy, it does lose some sort of "F feel".

When EK introduced suites to their A/C it was to provide exclusivity and ultimate privacy, I don't see why they want to devalue the product and go against that mind-set on the ground.

My thoughts on what will happen is that probably Gold will have the same benefits. The fourth tier will probably have the chauffeur drive available in DXB, higher miles bonus, and if lounge access is to be provided, maybe to the current F lounge only, and this would come into effect after the new F lounge in the new concourse opens up. (Much like how now Silvers are only allowed in the "old" J lounge in T1).

That was my thought process as well but EK always seem to amaze us !

I took the comment to be facetious, as suggested by the :p smiley.

On top of that, all EK A380 F services have onboard shower, so in a way no F pax on such services, including El Puerco Volante, should have any excuse for being smelly upon disembarkation and proceeding to transit. :p :D

Indeed and indeed ;)

Puts me in a bit of a quandary. I'm currently gold with both QF and EK, but in the future that would be somewhat redundant. So one airline is obviously going to get less of my business (I guess it will be Qantas).

Is that what Qantas intended?

QF are simply reducing themselves to an EK feeder and becoming pretty much irrelevant for European market.
And what's worse - they are pushing people towards EK,who offers a superior product,at the same time removing any reason to be loyal to QF.
While on paper this is called "partnership", in reality EK will chew and spit QF.

El Puerco Volante.

Agree.
QF will become a regional airline. A noble but rather limited asian/trans pacific operator.

This seems to be the deal of the century for EK.

We'll have to wait and see - I'm in a similar situation but with EK and Star Alliance. Gold on both, but if the deal with Qantas starts to be detrimental then I will have no hesitation flying entirely SA airlines

How is ending one European Destination, with the somewhat doubtful possibility of another in the future going to make QF a regional airline?
