A6-EVG looks to be on its way to Beijing for maintenance, it’s just left Dubai as EK2582.
Presumably EUT will be the one returning home.

Can anyone advise which of the 777 EQ registrations have the upgraded/game changer 1st Class ?
Looking to go next week on EK404 Dubai to Melbourne which seems to be the EQ aircraft.
Thanks

Should also have asked how many 1st Class suites do they have.

A couple of bits of fleet news:
A6-EDP underwent a test flight today as EK2646 - looks like it's close to re-entering service having not flown since returning from DWC on 13th May
A6-EVH has positioned to Chengdu for maintenance. Believe it's visiting Airbus's hangars there?

EK B777: Window faux wood trims of A6-EB* and A6-EC*

Hello everyone

I'm an absolute fan of the different EK business class cabin designs of their 777. When searching the web I noticed that the oldest 777 A6-EBU and EBM seem to have the wide wood trims around the windows plus electric window blind.
The slightly less old A6-ECA,ECE...ECK seem to have the narrow wood trim and manual window blind. Allthough: I found images of ECF and ECG with wide wood trim and electric window blind. Could be mistakes?
Then again, A6-ECO to ECZ and newer seem to have the wide wood trims plus electric window blind (the design I like most, contrary to most other peoples taste I guess).
Does anyone have a complete list? I saw an excellent spreadsheet already, with details about the different seats in business class. It's even up to date which is outstanding. Excellent job!!
I tried to post this with images earlier, but as I am a "newbie", probably that has been rejected due to the links.
Sorry for possible language inaccuracies.
Any hints would be appreciated.

When will the Starlink-Upgrade be added to the Google Doc?
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets...#gid=406203786

Have any planes already gotten Starlink at Emirates?

A6-EDP is scheduled to re-enter service this afternoon on EK923 according to Flightradar

Almost the entire -300ER fleet has the wider wood trim and electric blinds on the windows, the only exceptions (as far as I know) are ECE, ECJ and ECK.

Some of the EB* series were originally delivered with manual blinds and then retrofitted once they were reconfigured from the older 12F layout in the early 2010s. There were some exceptions to this as well, like EBW which still had manual blinds till retirement in 2024.

Now that EK has officially announced the retrofit of 388Js, I suspect EOS is first in line considering EOP got sent to CAN.

Edit: I stand corrected.

Looks like these will be coded 388K and 388Gs (non-RR vs RR).

A6EDH Feb 22, 2026 2:49 am

Looks like A6-EDT will be the next A380 to return from its long hibernation at DWC. Just spotted it pinging on Flightradar.
This would then leave just EDI, EDJ and EDL in storage.

A6EDH Feb 27, 2026 11:15 am

A6-EUX hasn’t flown since February 22nd. Worth keeping an eye on as that might be the first 2 class A380 to undergo its reconfiguration.

Also, A6-EXQ is now showing on Flightradar so looks like delivery is very close.

First of all, I wish everyone a safe return back home or to your destination.
Thanks, your hint helped me to evaluate a bunch of youtube videos. I think I resolved the puzzle. In the videos I looked for shots of the inflight information system or the front gear, where the tail number is visible too. For the latter I took special care, that it really was the plane actually boarded.

Result:
Active planes:
Manual A6-ECA, CE to CK (8 planes)
Electric A6-EBM, BU, BY, CM, CO, CQ to CZ. EBV (retired?)

Retired, B series:
BB, BG, BL, BN, BQ all had electric blinds.

Retired, C series:
CB,CD,CL all manual. CN most likely electric, CP not found.

Summary
It looks like EBW (manual) was indeed an exception in the B-series.
In the C-series there's a pattern: ECA to ECL were manual (delivered till Dec. 2008) ECM to ECZ electric (delivered Jan. 09 or later).

Thanks for having guided me in the right direction.

Although it’s hard to tell currently with GPS jamming around Dubai, A6-EDT has just returned to DXB as EK2552.

This just leaves EDI, EDJ and EDL as long term stored at DWC.

A6EDH Mar 15, 2026 1:30 pm

Noticed that A6-EBM, EBY and ECA have gone on loan to Emirates SkyCargo, operating a few cargo missions by the looks of it.

Flo388 Apr 1, 2026 7:28 am

A6-EOW is parked at DWC now, maybe a few more A380s will follow soon.

Edit A6-EOG/R are the next ones.

thijsseh Apr 1, 2026 10:04 am

Flew through DXB this morning. Lots of A380’s and 77W’s parked all over the place. Reminded me of Covid days.

A6-EUE is also there. Hopefully these aren't stored there for as long as they were during the pandemic!

A6-EEA appears to be on its way to Newquay, Cornwall which is a bit of a surprise? Can Newquay even take an A380 let alone have any A380 maintenance facilities?

Going for Starlink fitment.

Interesting that it’s being done in Newquay rather than Dubai, guessing the maintenance facilities at DXB are at capacity at the moment?

NQY has a 9000ft runway and was a base for Virgin orbit or whatever it was called. It has also had AF1 and AN124s in the oast

Former RAF base St. Mawgan with a long runway that was also a backup for the Space Shuttle.

I read a comment mentioning that but no backup and it seems a long way to go for such a small job. Maintenance or storage were also mentioned by others.

Maintenance and storage both seem unlikely. There's plenty of storage space @ DWC where a few A380s have already been parked and there is no hangar at NQY capable of accommodating an A380 as far as I know.

It could be a one-off for staff training to familiarise them with the process of fitting Starlink to an A380 so EK Engineering can complete the process in-house going forward in DXB on the rest of the fleet.

I did see a comment that 16 A380's are going to be fitted with Starlink at NQY, but not sure if that's true. A6-EEA being the first to get it does make sense because it was one of the few A380's that didn't have a dome on the top (which presumably means it didn't have WiFi or Live TV equipped).

Talking of storage, A6-EDN and A6-EBR are the latest to go to DWC for what appears to be storage. I wouldn't be surprised if that is the end for A6-EBR either.

A6-EEA is equipped with WIFI, no Live TV, same as A6-EOT & A6-EEJ

Sadly A6-EBR continues with the cargo operation.
i hope they will retire that A6-EB* birds soon.

And is currently operating EK9987. Cargo routing to CPH.

The post about it going to DWC was made after the 582/583 flights.

The aircraft now being used for cargo flights haven`t the seats removed like during the Covid....

An aircraft can be used for a cargo flight today and tomorrow for a regular pax flight.

Yes, I fully understand you ft101 and ZRHMD11 , but the post I was reacting to was suggesting that A6-EBR is doing cargo only - note the "CONTINUES" and "SADLY"

It's unfortunate from the passenger's perspective. After all, the A6-EB* series is a somewhat older model that hasn't kept up with the times for quite a while.

I can remember sitting in 6A on one of these EBx frames many years ago and poking at the screen. My neighbour had to remind me it was not a touchscreen. :(

Lady Northumberland Apr 10, 2026 9:48 am

I have noticed that the past few weeks - maybe 3 weeks? The EK35/36 flight DXB - NCL has been in an A350 rather than the 777 - but when you try to make a booking only the 777 shows up - as there is no F from NCL, J in an A350 would be preferable to travelling to another airport - does anyone know if the A350 is a permanent fixture on this route please?

Flo388 Apr 16, 2026 2:29 pm

I just saw a picture, A6-EWA has now the 3. Generation ICE in Economy. So maybe they retrofitted all the 777-200LR with that now.
