Overnight at DXB
Hi, I may well be travelling through Dubai in November GLA > KUL and back. The outward journey is ok with a 3h40min connection time.
But on the return, for the flights I am looking at, I would be in the airport from 22:30 to 07:30. What options would be available to me? Will I be allowed to stay within the terminal? I'll likely be travelling in Y. Thanks |
I am not sure if you are aware of this but if your FIRST AVAILABLE connection is more than 8h (in Y), then you most probably eligible for a free hotel accommodation regardless of nationality and visa requirement.
Did you check with EK? Alternatively, there are some new mid- and luxury hotels some meters away from the terminal. |
The terminal is open 24 hours, but I'd strongly suggest you sort out a bed for the night.
If you're arriving at 22:30, you've got plenty of time to go and get a meal/drink near the airport. Cheers, Rick |
Suggest you stay in the airport hotel - you don't have to leave the departures area. That is, if you don't get a hotel for free, but it may be worth it to have a longer night's sleep by paying for airport hotel.
|
It would be possible to entertain yourself in the terminal overnight and/or find a place to curl up and sleep -- you will see thousands of other passengers doing the same.
Of course the airport hotel (probably T3 branch would be most convenient) is a better option. It is very nice, though not cheap. Or, as others said, you can leave the airport for a full range of hotel options. |
Transit hotel dxb
There is a transit hotel In the airside area and you can email them as follows
[email protected] its a nice hotel just email them and provided you have checked your luggage all the way thru then you can stay at this hotel. otherwise if your luggage is not checked thru prob the best option is the Premierre inn at the airport good luck |

That's great, thanks. Is there no website for that transit hotel? How much would I be looking at paying?

Expect to pay around AED900 for 8 hours. |
The two options I used were the Terminal first class lounge around £40 for 4 hours situated in terminal 1 at gate 108 I think. Very quiet and you can get a sleep and a shower or book the holiday inn express at the airport £50 which is a 15 min free bus ride.
Given the time that you have to wait I would probably go for the first class airport lounge as you can get breakfast and the food and drink are free. You would need to get the shuttle bus from the hotel at 6.00 to make it back to the terminal on time to get the flight to Glasgow and you would miss breakfast as it isn't served until 6.00. Emirates also do a free meal (Breakfast/Lunch or Dinner) if you're stopover is more than 8 hours. It's located beside McDonalds, just show your 2 boarding passes. |

Also, how much in the way of AED might I need for stopovers outbound and inbound? Thanks! |

If you are booked in one of the fare classes shown in the link and are staying over 8 hours, Emirates will pay for your hotel and you don't need a visa to enter Dubai. Just have your reservation and passport details available, call EK and tell them to book you in the Millenium Hotel for your long layover (as long as your connecting flight is the next flight to your final destination). You have to book at least 24 hours in advance and you will pick up your voucher when you check in. Once you get to Dubai, they will arrange a visa for you at the airport if you need it. Otherwise, just go through immigration and customs, turn left once you are out of the customs area and the Millenium Hotel transfer desk is at the end of the hall. You will be brought over to the hotel, given a voucher for dinner and breakfast and taken back to the airport the next morning. No need to waste money and a nights sleep when EK will cover the cost of everything. |
