How to upgrade Y to J?

I don't have any miles with Emirates, but I have miles with partners and AMEX miles. Is it possible to buy a Y ticket on Emirates and use partner or AMEX points to upgrade Y to J? I am looking to fly MOW-DXB and that's too long to sit in Y but I also don't want to pony up 4k for a 4 day side-trip. Thanks.

welcome to Flyertalk

You can only upgrade if you are a Skywards member with Skywards points. You can get an award ticket using partner points Depends on your partners
Contact them to find out

Nice knowing you

You would need to find a way to convert AMEX points to Skywards miles. I'm not sure about this, but I think you can do this by converting to SPG and then converting to Skywards. Whether that's good value or not compared to whatever else you could use the AMEX points for, I don't know.

NO attitude intended, honestly, just an allusion -- with all the scouring youll have to do of your partner rules, it will be a while before you get back here!
