What job do you have?

I've noticed on here that a lot of people fly EK as part of their job. Just wondering what is it you guys do and how can I go about getting a job like that? I am based out of BHX.

The only time i get to fly EK is on personal use and it can turn out to be expensive. I would love the chance to fly EK for my job.

Before we can offer you a job we will need to know what qualifications you have, can we take a look at your CV ;)

Ok I'll bite.
"Corporate Poo Cleaner" <-- No, seriously. Get to travel three times a month thanks to my ninja s**t cleaning skills

Being based out of DXB is a good way to fly EK a lot...

There are still opportunities in Dubai, even if there are not so many in construction any more.

Global role, based out of Dubai, area covered from Brazil (soon to be Chile) to China (soon to be Japan) everywhere else inbetween is my area!

Get to fly EK way too much. Our travel policy, under 3 hours - Y, 3 - 7 hours J, over 7 - F...... Hence the miles!

I am also a Corporate Poo cleaner, based in DXB with coverage of Middle East and Africa.

Business in all flights for client work, but never First
Economy flights if there are trainings in the region or even Europe.

Currently staffed in Riyadh and due to EK's miserable flight timings, never get the chance to fly EK, hence outbound on EY and inbound on SV (uff).

I'm in marketing, specialising in social media and new technologies. Middle East/Asia is a huge expanding market for us, currently working for a large American travel organisation.

I commute to our DXB office at least twice a month and pay for J class out of BHX to get some sleep, waking up fresh. I am also an avid collector of Sirius points ;)

I work for a scientific equipment company, giving support and training to users, and some sales duties. Our local office is Dubai, I live in Cairo, the region I cover is Libya, Egypt, Saudi, UAE, and Bahrain. Factory is Singapore, big lab near Frankfurt, and head offices in Toronto & San Francisco. I fly EK, because the other options (MS, SV) I don't like, EK offers good connections where I have to go, and to consolodate miles on one carrier. I travel Y, but every week. About 40% in J due to op-up or upgrades.

What's wrong with the EK RUH-DXB timings? 2105 is a much more convenient time to get to the airport than 1735 if you intend to work a full day on Wednesday ;)

Why EK3815 operates on a Monday and not a Saturday or Sunday, though, I have no idea.

Not that it matters to me, I'm working in JED now. And I'm down the back.

I dont want to work full day in RUH on Wed. I am trying to get out of "Rio" asap, so I even take the 2pm flight with SV. There is on Wed a 12pm noon flight, but that one is really too early.

Also, the 2105 flight is delayed 100% of the times which gets me than really late to DXB and dinner with friends etc is not possible anymore.

Fair enough. I tended to try to rear-load my weeks - full day on Wed, fly in Sun am (on the SV 1100) if I could get away with it. The split weekend really does make things miserable.

I found it always leaves late, but often got to the gate nearly on time. Nearly. ;)

The worst thing about it is, under the new scheme, DXB-DMM and DXB-JED earn the same miles

JED is a nicer city than RUH, I think. At least at this time of year.

I believe that EK will move their early flight to 4pm from noon, that may fit your schedule a bit better. I agree that the later (daily) flight is a long time to wait after close of business.

Nope, I coincidentally found out that the extra EK 3XXX flight (on Mon and Wed) is moved from 12pm to 4am in the morning. Come on!!!

And moving it to 4pm to fly to DXB and arrive at app 6-7pm is not an option as it doesnt fall into one of the three EK banks .

-------------------------------------------------------

sorry for being offtopic, I am actually really interested in what frequent flyer's job here on FT. So who else is a management consultant (corporate poo asscleaner?)

I also would like to here more about travel policies, i.e. which classes to be taken on what flight durations.

Get it on!

Commercial Finance Manager based in Dubai.

I don't travel with work unfortunately so all my EK flights are for pleasure, they're the only direct option for Glasgow and reasonably competitive on price.

I'm hoping to get to gold this year, got 2 Glasgow flights planned, 2 Auckland flights planned and a stag weekend to plan in October that could be EK.
