Huge Difference in Price Between Emirates.com and Travel Agents
I was looking at ticket prices for BHX-BOM-BHX anytime during Feb/March and it appears that there is a huge difference in price between Emirates.com and that of travel agents. For example:
the cheapest i can find on
emirates.com: 403.40 GBP
ticketstoindia.co.uk: 332.30
Is there any particular reason for the big difference? Is it justifiable paying the extra to book on emirates website for some extras that i am not aware of?
P.S I am an emirates silver member.

Let's face it, with the current lack of available reward flights, Skyward Miles are virtually worthless anyway these days so IMHO it's no longer worth worrying about whether the ticket would attract miles - you're better off going for the cost savings every time!

My previous flights this year were all booked through travel agents and they all earnt me miles. The only issue I see now is that the cheaper flights through travel agents may be considered a saver fare under the new skywards ticketing rules.

you'd miss out on their online booking bonus miles, but i don't think at amounts to much anyway. i agree with the rest of you guys- better off saving money as devalued miles are the way of EK's future.

From US bookings..
While I can get 'consolidator' fares on CX and even SQ sometimes. EK's consolidator contracts seemed to have dried up in the US. I can tell from the UAE Skywards cash plus miles awards that except for Houston, they have no need to promote sells into economy from the other locations. So, if it is still 2009 for your booking, I would book online via emirates.com to get the online bonus credit since all the travel agents were offering same fare or even higher for some reason (few dollars for their trouble I guess).
There was a free companion offer for first and business via emirates.com US site a few months ago, but that is also now gone.
