Booking Class for LY Reward using AA Miles
 

Can someone tell me what booking class I would need to obtain a reward seat on LY using AA miles? It seems that the LY Matmid and AA rewards availability do not match and I'm trying to use Expert Flyer or KVS to find seats. Any ideas?

An AA award in LY Business is X. I'm not sure about Economy. I'm also not certain that EF or KVS will show this to you. EF does show LY native awards.

Now that LY has changed their award bookings to X Class have LY bookings with AA Miles changed their booking class or are they exactly the same now?

I booked LY Business Class tix for my wife and I for FCO - TLV/return, using AA Aadvantage Miles. The ticketless travel receipt showed the booking code to be "X."

Economy is R for AA, and EF won't show you neither X nor R for LY using AA miles.

That is incorrect. LY recently changed all of its award booking classes and the matmid award availability precisely matches the AA availability thus allowing one to check it on EF.

J-Economy Award
X-Business Award
P-First Award

I stand corrected for the Economy that is J, but there is no First Award.

That is correct. Only economy and business when booking with AA miles

If I am holding J (LY bonus bucket) reservations and I want to use AA miles, as opposed to LY points, to ticket them - how do I go about that?

If [add'l] award seats are still available, you can simply make a new booking with AADV.

Otherwise, you can try cancelling the seats with LY FFP, but there is no guarantee that those award seats will become available again.

Tried to search J on LY using ExpertFlyer and got empty results (not j0 but rather no results at all) on many flights/dates. Did LY change again their coach award inventory?

starting 1/Nov, economy award is changing to E class

Thanks. That's what the AA agent just told me. EF still shows J as economy although you can specify E.
