April 4: Carmel to Amadeus
On Friday April 4 Elal will switch over from its Carmel ticketing system to a new system called Amadeus.
Expect ticketting problems on Friday April 4 and Saturday April 5. |
In addition to the problems, does this mean from April 4th we'll be able to see seatmaps online through EF or CheckMyTrip.com (Amadeus online PNR engine)?
|
Is Amadeus the global one or a new El Al system with a very unique name?

mailing list and internally monitoring
1. The mailing list issue seems to me less mystery, I get mail for many LY FF club memberss, and the order of the mails is pure rundom. No PL GL first, syntaxt is the same. I assume it is done this way to reduce the chance to enter spam filters. Sometimes ut takse a week(!) between mails (same mail diferent member) 2. Many companies monitors web sites post about service, complauns, etc. Some with dedicated employees, others with contractors. They just do not post answers on all web sites, just (trying to) improve procceses internally, and when relevant issue an official PR announcement. |
I wonder how no one have commented on the reservations system upgrade being done on Shabbat
|
I just called ELEL and got the new PNR's for my next 3 flights
The seat maps are right to left : 10A is on the right and 10K is on the left. I couldn't change my seat ... there is an error message. I am sure they will solve all the problems very soon LiorM |
so the new system is up.
Looks very user friendly, a bit like the Austrian airline computer reservation system. Of course there a many bugs still in the sytem : What i dint undertstand is why its not taken on a "test drive" before its released! SO EL AL, It took me 10 minutes to notice these things: These things will probaly be fixed: A. Not possible yet to make a proper booking. B. Not possible to make seat changes on already booked PNRs. Here are other things they should have looked and considered: 1. My first disappointment was the website. I thought they should have atleast redone and redesigned the website for this occasion. 2. I though they were going to allow more options for destinations - for connection flights. (maybe that will be in a later stage). 3. When it shows the different price and flight option it doesnt tell you the bucket fare class (ie "V" "K" "Q" etc). Only before the actual booking it has it in the fare rules. 4. The system doesnt allow to "modify search" once you start the search. So its a bit annoying, you can only "start over." - So you need to re-enter the destination and dates etc for your search each time. 5. If the system makes an error, again you need to restart - no option to just modify or start off where you left off. 6.It seems the prices are more expensive .... $1618 for a "v" class ticket to NY in May and $10,000 for a First class ticket to NY? 7. No option yet to book restricted First class Fare. 8. The system doesnt recognize returning from a different location yet. I entered TlV - PARIS returning from London - TLV. It showed me fares and flights returning from Paris. 9. Problems with reward booking. Here you need to log - in to your matmid account brfore you book. BUT - if you enter the website and enter you flight search information, and tik the reward booking option, only after you send the information it notifies you that you need to log-in to matmid. After you log-in, again - the system doent keep or save the search option you filled in, so you need to reenter them. (Here there is also a bug, when the system ask you to reenter the info, no option for "NEW YORK" only "Miami" twice.) I looks like there are MANY problems with the reward booking. Keeps on giving error messages. |

However bad they may seem, I don't think they will ever get as bad as BA got with the shambles of the T5 Heathrow opening ;)
|
I don't like the new reservation system, nor the new time table: it is not accurate: for example, if you have a flight operated by a 767, you can't know whether it is a 767-200 or -300: they are listed as "767-200/300"; and of course, it is not possible anymore to know whether it is a 767-200 or -200ER!
Then, LY only owns 757-200s, and yet, flights operated by 757-200s are listed as "757-200/300" The flight schedule timetable is not good; I prefered the older one very disappointing:mad: |

Are you comparing the first few days of one of the largest and most sophisticated airport terminals for one of the biggest airlines in the world to a long over due internet booking system for a small airline !?!?!?!?! |
Wow - the new "online schedule" function is really BAD. The old one was much better, in comparison. There is no way to tell what a/c type is really going to be used. They don't show you per day, but rather per week. Its not possible that they use the same a/c type each day - never works that way with LY.
I just can't beleive that they put the new interface up without testing it first. This baby is sooooo not ready for prime-time. |

And what makes you so sure of that...? :D
I am not sure they will solve it soon. There are too many basic mistakes in the system. I am trying to book a flight to AMS and back from SXF,,, doesn't work. Maybe after the Hagim. @:-) |
