ELAL Website Rant drawing to a close!

Well it seems the revolution is upon us. First we got a brief look last week of ELAL's new logo and today we seem to have a glimpse of what’s more to come.

Here is a new MiniSite for ELAL's King David Lounge. (Hebrew)

Enjoy

it looks nice but its still a piece of junk.

what part of CSS + HTML don't these idiots understand? They don't need moving pictures or mouseover animations, they need a website where you can book tickets, check and change reservations and check your matmid account.

they will do it soon

It's pretty nice, I like flash animations haha...

But yep, their site is really bad.

I'm in Microsoft Studies this days, to become a Microsoft Certified Professional, and one of my professors there told me that he knows about El Al's new site, and he said It's going to be aweful also.... not sure if he's trusty but.... he's well known in the web community, so I would trust that.

Do you know them? if so are they aware that this is no improvement? One day El Al is going to realize that people don't like wasting hours of their time doing to El Al in Tel Aviv to make simple changes to their tickets with incompetent agents... if they could just add SIMPLE functionality to their website, not a bunch of flash crap, it would be more valuable.

This is a bit of a generalization, but for whatever reason, the Israeli market seems to have a greater taste for a lot of graphics-intensive, Flash-based websites.

I'm not sure if the market has a taste for it, or the companies just like to make them.

They could take a hint from Continental as to making a SIMPLE, FUNCTIONAL website.

Absolutely correct! The companies creating the websites are so impressed with their talent to make things blink and move that they haven't a clue as to what functionality and usability are. AA has one of the best airline websites, TG's is also excellent, neither use bells and whistles but provide great functionality including TGs i-checkin service!

LY is spending too much time listening to advertising and creative agencies and not enough time looking at the big boys and their websites.

A couple of flash presentations don't necessarily mean a new website in a sight.

I actually heard from two different sources that they were working on a website and have declared 2006 to be the year of the Internet for the company. I assume that means lots of flash presentations.

We must have all been really confused until now. It turns out they actually live in Israstan, not Israel, right? That would explain their lack of internet savvy.
