Most likely the TAs are religious Jews to boot. That aside Im still waiting for a refund from a tkt on a different carrier that also hasnt returned to the skys as of yet From the linked post it seems hes putting it all on the schools, yet what proof is there that ElAl is the party that is saying ca$h only, maybe its the TAs so that they dont lose their commission or have to deal with charge backs or refunds. The author of that linked post also wrote how many parents emailed him saying w/o his informing them how to get a cheap flight or a free flight they wouldnt have been able to send their kid for the year, give me a brake if a parent can afford the $30k to send their kid and gives them a CC to use for whatever and how much ever and side trips to Europe sometimes for a weekend on Dads CC, Its nuts saying they wouldnt have been able to afford to send the kid w/o the savings on the tkt This has "Shmay Drey" written all over it. |
My ELAL flight would have been this month. The app is finally NOT showing our original reservation...

I still don’t understand how a country like Israel can have its flagship carrier grounded :(

Israel is somewhat unique in that air service is really our only link for people to go to the outside world.
LY has always been considered to be a "lifeline" to the world, but I suppose in this time we don't want much of a link to anywhere.... |

The article is in Hebrew. https://www.calcalist.co.il/local/ar...839111,00.html El Al seeks clarifications on bid by son of US businessman to buy stake in firm Israel’s flagship airliner agrees to meet with Eli Rozenberg, wants answers on Medicare fraud settlement that his father’s nursing home chain paid to US government, NY state El Al’s board of directors said Monday that it would agree to meet with Eli Rozenberg, the son of millionaire US businessman Kenny Rozenberg, about his bid to purchase a controlling stake in the country’s flagship airline. In a letter to his lawyer, an attorney for El Al demanded that Rozenberg himself meet with the board, rather than just his representatives. “Unfortunately, your client’s response does not answer the questions presented to him and it is not clear why your client does not answer the basic questions that were asked simply and clearly,” the letter from the El Al attorney said. Among the questions it demanded answers to is why Rozenberg agreed to buy a stake in El Al “without presentations” and whether he is “in fact representing in the acquisition process his father and/or other investors.” The El Al lawyer also asked for clarifications about a $1.65 million settlement that Centers Health Care, the nursing home chain that Kenny Rozenberg runs, paid to the US federal government and New York state for fraudulent billing practices. *** |

The El Al Board is playing games here instead of starting actual negotiations. Clearly the present owners think the deal offered by the state is better for THEMSELVES, than the potential buyout offer. I doubt they care what is better for the company, its employees or its customers.
Either they accept Rozenberg's offer and cash in $75 million now and move on. Or they get massively diluted the upcoming equity offering, lose control and board membership, and hope that their smaller stake will be worth more than $75 million over time? |

And no, I don't buy the fiction that the son is the actual buyer. |

Why is a potential buyer with a history of alleged fraudulent billing practices - which were settled for $1.65 million - better for the customers than the present ownership?

True, but the bottom line is that the would be owners appear to have a history of crooked business dealings.
And over the years hasnt different owners and employees fleeced The Govt (not only LY) so it would only be biz as usual I cant think of any decent reason for why they want to own LY |
