Alaska Airlines 737 at TLV?!

Sitting on my delayed Arkia flight to Barcelona waiting to push back from our parking spot and an Alaska Airlines 737 just landed at TLV. Any idea what this could be? Freighter conversion at IAI? Charter? I'll link to a photo later when I land.

Nonstops from TLV to Anchorage would be great but I don't think the 737 has the range.

That's a bit of an understatement ;)

I saw an Alaska 737 parked at a remote stall when I landed on Tuesday afternoon.

I can't begin to imagine sitting in AS tight F seats for such a long flight.
I wonder how many fuel stops it had to make before arriving in TLV (my guess would be 2, one in Canada and the other in KEF or SNN).

AS also have hubs in LAX, PDX and SEA although admittedly all of those are unlikely. AS are retiring some of their 734's so it could be one of those sold to another airline. Or perhaps cargo.
Interestingly, this isn't the first time AS have been to TLV.

Thank you so much for the link. I knew maybe 1% of the information it contained. I laughed at how they safely got fuel in Egypt. Maguire, was not only brave and generous, he was very smart and knew how to think fast!

Let's just say they've proven to be an excellent resource on FT ;)

Yes - that was a brilliant maneuver.

Very interesting story indeed.
