Well I doubt anyone is going to be climbing over you if you're in a window seat... ;)

Very true..

I was going to book one of the saver level biz class tickets and Amex is telling me that they can't assign seats - that assigned seating is restricted to airport check-in. Is this true?

Having recently booked a business class ticket with points, I can assure you that I was able to pick my seat immediately upon completion of the booking. |

The 744 is much better if you can get seats on the upper deck.
I've flown in the middle seat on the 777 ex-EWR but in the bulkhead so it wasn't as bad. Certainly not preferable, though keep in mind that on LY, no C seat will guarantee you unrestricted aisle access with no one climbing over you. We ended up getting seats that seem OK. I think one of the flights may even have upper deck. Thanks! |

We ended up getting the Newark flight because they had saver biz seats for our whole party. Is there a difference in the tv/movies or really the seats? I read that the movies run continuously so you can't start a movie from scratch on your own.

No AVOD on 744s AFAIK, except on ELE and ELH (very old style AVOD though)

Just an update. I just flew EWR TLV JFK in business (got back to JFK this morning). We fly often and have flown Delta One many times along with United and Qatar business, Virgin Atlantic upper class, and BA first. I was dreading these flights - obviously the LY seats are a very old product (didn't even bother with the tv which truly are subpar) but we slept really well on the flights. We sat in the upper deck on the TLV JFK flight last night and it was very quiet and we both slept for just under 8 hours. The late flight times definitely help! We skipped dinner and breakfast was not gourmet but edible. Service was fine. The only hiccup is that we got a hard sell to downgrade on the TLV to JFK flight to economy due to 'overselling' in business. The agent helping my parents was super rude and the agent helping us had more pizzaz and tried her best to sell us on it. Is this normal? They claimed they would give us a free round trip biz ticket (no thanks). The Newark flight was delayed 4.5 hours so maybe that had something to do with it. We declined obviously and even saw empty business class seats once the flight departed. So odd.

I am flying business on an economy ticket and points. I've flown in full business sections and never once been asked to downgrade! ( thank goodness)

Whats the best seat on the 767-300 in business class?
