Terminal 1

Hi guys,

I'm flying Wizzair to Katowice on Sunday night from Terminal 1.

I've never used T1 in the past, what's it like?
Also, I plan on taking the train to the airport, how does one get between T1 & T3? I assume there is some kind of shuttle?

Thanks for any and all input!!

Here is the timetable for the shuttle between T3 and T1 (the train station is in T3)

The stop for the shuttle is on Level G by Gate 01, next to the shuttle to the long-term parking lot

If you are not checking baggage and do OLCI you can go directly to T3 and save a lot of time.

Do Elaborate..
I'll only have a carry on and OLCI as always.
My boarding pass says that the flight departs T1, or is that just where Wizzair's check in facilities are?

Now I'm confused lol.

Terminal 1 is for people checking in luggage. If you have no luggage to check-in, and only have a carry-on, as in your case, you can go directly to Terminal 3 with your boarding pass, and go through security there. Terminal 1 is only for checking-in the luggage.
Just before security in Terminal 3 , on the right hand side, there is a security stand where an agent will ask you the regular security questions.

You see if you did check in in terminal one, what happens after is that they put you on a bus that takes you to terminal three, which is where you actually board the plane. So if you have no luggage to check, save your self a whole lot of time and just go straight to the security checkpoint metal detectors/xrays in terminal 3.

Thanks guys for your input!!
Straight through T3 it shall be.
Awesome.

שבת שלום!

BTW, easyJet has been sending people to T3 for check-in even for the past couple of weeks due to construction in T1.

easyJet slams Ben Gurion Airport terminal facilities (Globes)

The article deplores the situation of checking in by T1 and then busing to T3

Isn't the whole reason they use T1 because it's cheaper than T3 and they are a LCC? Same reason they use T2 at MXP which is terrible compared to T1 although no busing involved.

They touch upon it more in this article:

Basically, would be fine with T1 if they spruced it up, added duty free shopping, and gates so that pax would arrive/depart T1 and never need to be bused over to T3

Ben-Gurion Airport's Terminal 1 to resume full operations in 2017
http://www.ynetnews.com/articles/0,7...835318,00.html
from Ynet:

"After the new Terminal 3 was opened in 2004, Terminal 1 has been used initially only for domestic flights and later for check-in, border control and security for international flights, but passengers then had to wait for a bus to transport them to Terminal 3, where they could board the plane.

But in the summer of 2017, passengers could board flights at Terminal 1 itself and even shop at duty free stores.

The terminal will be able to perform its own luggage security checks, while its passengers security area will be expanded and biometric passports will be introduced.

Nine gates, an airport lounge and a food court will all also be opened at the terminal.

The Israel Airport Authority (IAA) decided to reopen the terminal for flights in light of the sharp increase in international low cost airlines making use of the terminal and their request to make travel more pleasant for their passengers.

Since Terminal 1 was reopened for international flights, the number of passengers going through it increased from 93,000 to over a million passengers over the last year.

Every week, some 70 international flights leave from Terminal 1 by airlines like easyJet, Wizz Air, El Al's low cost airline UP, Norwegian, Israir and Arkia."

The Hebrew announcements about this mention something about a VIP area, so not sure whether that means a lounge, but if there isn't one that's pretty c****.

Also for UP passengers who's bought the fully flexible tickets (as well as those with status), who are entitled to use the KD lounge.

By they way, I think this deserve a thread of it's own.

I mentioned this in the other thread as well, but this is not great for UP passengers who's purchased a fully flexible ticket, as well as those with status who are entitled to use the KD lounge.
