Android App "Available"
LY has released an app for Android finally. It's simply a front to forward you to the full site, not even a mobile one. Poor translation, poor UI
Yay for IT! |
One would think that given Israel's status as a premier global high tech hub, it's privately controlled national airline would, at minimum, have an advanced website and mobile apps.

Especially after reading the Globes and Calcalist articles recently on Israeli-written apps

It is a complete shame and disgrace that EL AL is allowed to operate in a technologically backwards vacuum while the country the airline represents is at the forefront of technological advancement. |
I just downloaded the new iPhone app - what a disappointment.

The iPhone app is terrible.
First of all, while in the old app you could at least log into your Matmid account, that option is now grayed out. Second, when searching for a flight and once in the flight details page if you click the back button (within the app itself so not the browser back button) you get an error page (Error 400 - Bad Request...) which requires you to shut down the app completely (by double clicking the home button and pressing the app) as there is no way to navigate out of the error page. Despite notifying them, and a couple a updated to the app since it came out, they have't fixed it. It's just sad... :td: |
They actually send out emails today promoting the apps...

The app is good as the web site
Too bad :(

Liat?!

Hey all,
First of all, I appreciate the feedback. You're right, there are a few issues to be resolved. Some of them are on our level, and some of them are a bit more complex to resolve right away since we're working with international ordering & billing systems. Regarding the Matmid feature – it'll be available soon, as well as Special offers & Preferred Seats. I would like to point out that it's a brand new app, including services that were not available before. We're constantly working on making it better, I can assure you that. If you wish, I would very much appreciate it if you could send me specific issues you have encountered via private message. Thanks again, Liat. |
Hi Liat,
first and foremost - everything should be available via the app. The app shouldn't need to take me to the website for anything. IF, for whatever reason, I DO need to be re-routed, LY should have a mobile site in place. |

She is just doing her job being the social media front person for EL AL. Those in charge (both management and current board members, whose names I've mentioned in the past on this forum) are the ones to blame for this state of affairs. |
ELY001, no one is blaming Liat for the crappy app (or anything else that's LY's fault). Just addressing her

Now back to the topic of the android app. From what I understand, EL AL hires outside firms for things like apps. Would it be that difficult to hire a firm with experience making apps that take into account the functionality suggestions made by posters on this thread? |
