LY 082 Stranded in BKK

In Hebrew - http://www.ynet.co.il/articles/0,7340,L-4310781,00.html

Main problem - passangers to be stranded for Sabath, until new parts arrive (btw, are LY allowed to fly parts on Saturday?).

My question - if one of them asks to be re-routed (RJ, TK, or via Europe), would it be cheaper for LY than paying them compensation according to the new law?

What is the compensation they are due with the new law?

Which aircraft is the culprit this time?

As I am not religious I would ask LY to fly me on a One World Partner such as British Airways to LHR and then LHR-TLV or get the ticket endorsed to Lufthansa as I don't mind flying on the Sabbath. If this was not possible I would ask for a hotel room, vouchers for food etc.

What made you thing that the part is being flown on El Al from Israel?

It's a 747 engine part; even if it is not readily available in BKK, some other airline or aircraft maintenance company may have it in stock somewhere closer to Thailand than TLV.

ETA: For the non-Hebrew readers, here is an English version of the article:

Assuming its qualifies for compensation (I still haven't checked the law whether out-station delays due to maintanence are "legit"), it should be something like 3000 NIS or so (~ 750$).
