Access Denied on Website

Has anyone been unable to reach Easyjet's website because they are greeted with an "Access Denied" message as soon as they click on any link associated to easyjet.com?

I've been having this issue for days now and it's absolutely preventing me from booking any flight with Easyjet.

I've tried numerous workarounds already including using data instead of wifi, using Incognito mode, and using mobile instead of computer.

I can log in with no issues from PC (chrome), iPad (safari) and iPhone App. Have you tried to log in using private/incognito mode? If you still have issues perhaps try clearing your cache and/or cookies.

Have you in the past used an OTA or travel organiser like On The Beach or Love Holidays, to book an EasyJet flight?

I have heard that their system might think you (or your IP address) is that of a travel company and therefore the system denying you access to the direct consumer site.

Where are you located? This could be a geographic-based denial based on the location associated with your IP address.

Yes I've tried private/incognito mode but to no avail. These modes supposedly don't keep track of existing browsing history or cookies.

I've been trying to access from HKG if that matters.

That is highly relevant information. You will need to use an European or North American VPN to access the site. Many sites block access from outside of the geographic regions where the company operates to reduce the possibility of fraud and abuse.

You might also try using the EasyJet app and see if that works any better.

This sounds absolutely insane! I am having the same problem. Also from HK.

Then, I tried accessing it via a Canadian VPN and lo and behold it works. Why is this insane? Because easyJet doesn't fly to North America.

They probably get significantly more legitimate bookings from Canada than Hong Kong. It's a risk vs. reward calculation for the airline.

I don't get why Easyjet has to do this. Being based in HKG I eventually bought my ticket via a travel agent. Luckily I did not need to change my ticket but it could easily become a hassle if I did.

Really wonder what it would cost Easyjet to expand accessibility to IP addresses based in Asia as well.

sorry! Not buying it.

most people who are looking to make legitimate purchases don’t use VPNs. Who is more likely to use a VPN? A hacker.

it’s a misguided policy at best

It's certainly a blunt instrument and (relatively) easy to bypass but I have to believe the fraud prevented is worth the loss of revenue to the airline, or else they wouldn't do it as a profit-loving enterprise. In addition, I think you will find many (but certainly not all) companies have resorted to this tactic.

Using the app or website from your foreign phone (with WiFi disabled) may provide an easy workaround depending on how your mobile provider routes data.
