Yes and on airlines like AF where they limit the weight of your carryon you can put the heavy stuff in the Bagket.
I got a similar vest for that very reason when we had some trips on weight-limited carryon airlines. The wife has some heavy items - and/or too many items!:p Works like a charm. And when I'm solo, it's enough that I don't even need a carryon, other than my tablet.
