Hmmm. It's been about a year since I've had Wendy's fries. If you mean their fries are now thicker, with skins, and very crispy, I'll make a point to check them out. That's exactly how I like 'em. I usually only find them at certain independent joints. I haven't seen the bandwagon.:)

I just googled them. After seeing photos and reading reviews, they are not at all the type of fries I love. Not thick enough, not enough skin, and not cooked crispy enough. They do look slightly better than the previous limp ones.

They're not my thing; I prefer the old-school semi-squishy, non-over-starched ones. Jack in the Box started the over-starched crispy fries thing back in the mid-1990s, then BK, then Carl's, and as of a year or so ago, Wendy's. I'm not sure which one started adding a bit of skin (mainly on the ends), but while potato skin is a good thing usually I've yet to see a fast food execution of it where it's a win. |

I haven't noticed "thicker" - indeed, Wendy's always had thicker fries than BK or McD's and that was always to my taste. Otherwise, pretty much.

Best fries are steak fries or waffle fries from Chik-fil-a. :P
I do love Fuddruckers too though even though I haven't had a burger from there since four years ago.. |
