I'm going to Boone, NC next weekend home of the apparently famous Daniel Boone Restaurant. I've been told to expect a several hour wait but it is worth it...we'll see.

Went to Franklin BBQ again yesterday. Got in line at 11:45 and was ordering at 1:05, so 1 hour and 20 minutes.
And, it was definitely worth it. Best regards, William R. Sanders Social Media Specialist Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide [email protected] |

Ruth's Chris bar area at the Mohegan Sun in Wilkes-Barre always has a long wait on weekends as does The Longhorn Steakhouse near AVP.

At least two reasons to choose to wait?
Maybe I missed it up-thread but I'm reminded by recent posts that some folks are willing to wait for an "ultimate" dining experience, and others are willing to wait for a dining "bargain."
I'm very familiar with the Canadian-based Spaghetti Factory chain. It's a bargain and I'd wait in some circumstances. For example, just after Christmas we waited 30 minutes to seat our family party of 15 for an unplanned lunch at an Olive Garden. Since I was buying it was a very worthwhile wait for my wallet, considering their unlimited soup-and-salad special. ;) Mrs. Fredd and I by ourselves wouldn't wait 30 minutes for an Olive Garden seat, unless we felt there weren't any viable alternatives within a quick drive. I'll also quickly exit when I suspect a scam is in play to make a joint appear more popular than it really is, and to generate extra income at the bar. |

Imagine it. It's fantastic BBQ. Out of this world. And unless you pre-order a whole brisket, waiting a long time is the only way you will get it. They routinely sell out before they even officially open. Seriously. It only has gotten worse as they have become even more known. |
I don't mind waiting anywhere if there are seats at the bar.

Would never wait at all for any chain (Olive Garden, Cheesecake Factory, Spaghetti Factory, etc). If I am going out to eat, I want something that I can't make a superior version of or that is such a pain to make that I'd rather someone else do it and clean up after.
We generally get reservations for early hours and not on Fri/Sat because neither of us likes to wait - plus most restaurants are so noisy and crowded it cuts down on our enjoyment. The spouse started having GERD problems maybe 15 years ago and can no longer eat within about 4-5 hours of bed anyway, so later dining times are out for us, so late lunch out is more common now. There are a couple of trattoria/osteria-style places (not necessarily Italian, but small restaurants, 20 tables max) that we've waited 45 minutes or so, but that would be about our max. I'm also very glad that the trend in dim restaurants appears to have run the course. If I have to get a flashlight out to read the menu, it's too damned dark. |

Last nite the wait for a group of 4 at Joe's Stone Crabs, Miami Beach, FL was 2 1/2 hrs. Of course, if you "know someone" it's 10 min. Great food.
