My dad is recovering from back surgery and since he is not a flower guy I wanted to send him a gift order of snacks. I have been searching the web for a good brownie or cookie place that ships.

Before I chose one I just wanted to see if anyone here had a place to recommend. My dad really like walnuts so that is the type I would be looking for.

There's Brownie Points, Mrs. Fields, or Mrs. Beasley's. There's even Godiva Chocolatier.

In the same vein, when my dad was recovering from surgery I discovered that he had a secret passion for Ben & Jerry's, which my mother refused to buy (THREE DOLLARS! For ICE CREAM?) and I discovered that they'll happily ship a 6-pack of any flavors you like packed in dry ice. That might be an alternative.

Thank you for all of the suggestions. Late last night I ended up going with Brownie Points. It was one of the ones I came across while searching.

I also saw Sugardaddies last night, and they looked great, but could not figure out if they were soft brownies that looked like biscotti, or biscotti that had brownie flavors.

While the Ben and Jerry's would be nice, my dad is in NYC and has access to that locally.

My wife and I were looking at some of the posts this afternoon and liked some of the other sites that listed. We have agreed with some of our family members to cut back on what we spend for gifts this year and I think we will use some of the others.

I will have to list some of the feedback I get once the gifts are received. The only post I saw on gift food here seem to be focused on fruit baskets. Hopefully this can be used as a resource for others in the future.

I know this is late for the OP, but my husband has sent Fairy Tale Brownies to his clients and they've always been received enthusiastically. We've also sent them as thank-yous to people we've worked with (including a realtor and a relocation consultant) who went above and beyond. Having a box of decadent brownies on your desk from a grateful client is a visible sign you're doing your job well.

I've tried them (sent them to my husband when we were dating and before he had cardiac stents) and they're rich and delicious but they lack frosting. I think brownies need frosting!

This thread made me crave brownies and cookies, so I started baking this afternoon. We now have 5 dozen chocolate chip cookies, and 2 dozen brownies. Mr. Kipper asked why I decided to bake, and all I told him was, "I started craving brownies this morning." I failed to tell him why.

Oh my gosh.... I can't believe this... I clicked on this post as I was eating a Big Island Candies white chocolate dipped lemon shortbread cookie that we got there two weeks ago....

Highly recommend... but they are not cheap!
