Pickles!

I've been eating tons of pickles over the last few months. I'm trying to cut down on calories, while maintaining a healthy snacking routine, and also to eat locally.

Pickles from Guss's Pickles up the street from my building are the perfect solution. My current favorites are spicy, but I like all types (sour, half-sour, etc.)

Here's a history of pickles:

There is also some evidence that pickles can promote digestive health and lower cholesterol.
All that, and they're delicious!

I especially like pickle juice for martinis.

What do you do with pickles?

I like pickles, both sweet and sour, but am particularly fond of cornichons.

You know - i like a good pickle. I'm quite delighted when one comes with a deli sandwich or something. I even occasionally buy one of those giant jars.

That said - pickles in bags?

Eww. That's just not right. And then I saw them sold from a kart vendor at Disneyland. Just random pickles in bags. Eww. A vat of that lovely bulk ice, pickles in bags, and grubby child hands. Eww eww eww.

See if you can find the original pickles 'n peppers locally. The most addictive pickles I've ever tried.

not a fan of sweet pickles, but I love me some Bread and Butter pickles, or Dill.

Dill pickles have fewer carbs than most other pickles.

:D

Sweet pickles and bread and butter pickles are evil. Sure, they look all nice and friendly like a tart dill or salty cornichon, but they sneak up behind you with their rancid taste!

My favorite pickles are the dills (un-sliced) from Trader Joe's. MMmmmm.

And I like the pickles-in-a-bag at Disneyland! Better a sterile plastic bag than one of those humongous deli-style jars.

Whatever the pickle, if it does not require refrigeration, it's probably not worth the bother.

Delicious, though perhaps an acquired taste. Especially with gin.

There's a place in Delaware called Peppers; they have incredibly addictive pickled asparagus that is even better when used to garnish a bloody mary.

Do you need a quality control taster? I'm happy to volunteer :)
