Why don't they sell beef jerky at the airport store?

I have gone to many, many airport newsstands, and my pet peeve, besides the fact that they invariably sell last week's Economist, is that they also, invariably, do not sell beef jerky, my favorite snack. This seems counterintuitive. Is there a reason for this?

Because it would cost $10 instead of the already inflated price of $5 at the local convenience store.

I've seen it at IAH being sold at rip-off prices.

try this jerky...it is sent in 4oz packages and I buy it in bulk and keep it at home. Everytime I travel, I throw in a new package in carry on....

Go to any Hudson news in the States and you'll find it.

I don't think I've eaten Jerky since my teens. I've since thought of it as a chew toy for adolescents. Do adults really eat the stuff?

They haven't twigged that jerky has a longer shelf life than the Economist.

If you subscribe to The Economist, then you gets rights to view it online, (which includes the full print version). Way cool, so you can read it online from work or hotel room ^

Probably for the same reason that you can't buy scissors at the airport anymore - it may be used to force entry into the cockpit. Is beef jerky picked up at security screening?

In SYD airport you can not only get a variety of Beef Jerky flavours (I'm a teriyaki fan myself), but also Kangaroo, Emu or Crocodile Jerky as well. Plenty of variety to get you through a Trans-Pacific flight. :D

Thr kangaroo jerky is a little gamy, to my taste.
