Many of them DO sell it at the inflated price of $10; seen it both in DFW a few weeks ago and in SAN this past weekend.

Not sure if you mean the whittington's stuff or regular retail jerkey, but 4oz for US$5 is not bad... that's regular supermarket price here ($4.99 for 3.65oz of Jack Link's - Oberto is $1 cheaper) at my local Safeway or Lucky.

A few times the person at the register has actually confirmed that I knew the price before they rang it up, since the markup is absurdly high. Besides inflated prices, it's also annoying that newsstands generally only sell the super-large sized pack, not a single serving.
