Why exactly <$259?
As long as it is an adjustable decent burr grinder, you'll be fine. Not a blade grinder. Be guided by something like Amazon ratings. |

I've had mine for around a year now, and am very happy: it's well-built, the easy LCD settings make it easier to use compared with a lot of the more "professional" models, and it's the best balance I found of reasonable price and good performance. Combine it with a great French press, good locally-roasted beans, and you'll have an unbeatable cup of coffee. I have an excellent local roaster and grind my beans daily but I am hearing cleanup can be a chore. |

Thanks. I have been looking at the Breville but what is the cleanup like?
Breville has a PDF of the manual online including cleaning instructions if you want to take a look. |

The grinder comes with a little brush, and you just take the hopper off, twist one of the burrs apart, and brush clean from top and bottom. Timorese coffee, the last great nation which does not practice insecticides. About as organic as you can get, but some batches do not perform highly on the scale of smooth.

Check out Coffeegeek, great blog about coffee..,

Since coffee grinders aren't really the scope of this 6-year old thread, why bump it??

Went to the Beyu Caffe in Durham today, they have their own coffee menu including a few specialty treats: http://beyucaffe.com/menus/
The Peanut Butter Mocha was seriously excellent. |
This has been an interesting read. I guess that I have a very simple palate. My absolute favorite is Community Coffee New Orleans Blend (dark roast with chicory) with Café Du Monde a close second. Dark, rich, smooth and strong. Not my usual morning coffee (it's sad to waste it at a time when I simply need coffee in order to kickstart my brain) but my go to when I really, really want to enjoy my coffee. Au lait :).

I use a cheap Delonghi grinder - about $40 - and grind small amounts at a time which stops it getting too hot. No faffing about cleaning it as I don't bother and the coffee tastes fine to me.....well as good as it's going to get here considering the crap quality they sell at extortionate prices.

Specialty coffee is typically one made with liquor. There's are different roasts from different regions, blends and single origin coffees. Whether it's worth it or not depends on you. That you're asking about it means that it probably doesn't.
